Good compact car for under 16K?

I say Scion tC, I think the base price is 16.4K though... my buddy's was fun to drive, safe, reliable and there is HELLA cargo space!

A used mazda 6 would also work you can find those for a very good price and it is a very good car.

xA. or xB. shes 17, she doens't need the speed or anything. just something fun and cute. why doens't your scion dealers let you test their cars? over here testing a scion is the easiest thing, all you gotta do is show them your license and say you wanna test drive one, then they take you out, no other thing required... they don't even ask you if you are gonna buy or not. because to those sales ppl it doens't matter... its all internet based sales so they don't get any commission... thats how it works in CA.

how about the new chevy colbolt coming soon? i dunno much about it in terms of price and stuff, just saw it on the ads on tv

ok, in reference to the cobalt and tC comments...

it MUST have 4 doors!!!

she's starting to warm up to the MZ3. My rents are liking my suggestion since we've bought three cars there including mine and the dodge dakota that they are trading in for her car. They'll prolly give us a good deal. We're going tomorrow morning to test some out, we'll see how it goes.

About the Scions. I went to test one out around the time I bought my P5 and they had ONE xA and ONE xB and said wouldnt let anyone test drive them. It was messed up. We'll go to a different one this time and they should let us drive one.

well we went to check some cars out yesterday and she didnt find anything she liked other than the MZ3, so it looks as though thats what she's gonna get...She still wants to go test drive a scion, so we'll see, but Im keeping my fingers crossed:D

she wants either red or silver, but she also likes the lava orange...Im trying to lean her towards winning blue...black cars are a no-no(no)(headshake

I would say Mazda 3 or Scion xA. Or you can give her your P5 and get a Mazdaspeed... (thumb)

lol..NO hyundais or Kias...not that they are bad cars cuz I know they are getting better, but there's still a certain negative stigma with them(shrug)

good choice on not gettin a hyundai or kia protegev... they have really horrible resale value!!!

dont ever get a kia and expect to be able to trade it back in for a good price, cause your already upside down on your loan once you drive it off the lot.

id suggest gettin a scion. i think shell like it for its originality, and it should have an awesome resale value since its a toyota in essence. sucks that you cant test drive em over on the east coast... but thats because the scion was originally released in CA. thats why we have so many over on the west side of the continent and can test drive em a bit easier.

if not a scion, a mazda3 will be a good buy.

I say go used and get into something really nice. My buddy just picked up a 99 M3 for 19,5.

ok, price just changed...Now its a nice car under 13K obviously its gotta be used.

btw, we'll be paying cash for it, so financing is and never was a concern ;)

you are

1. a dick for saying no car faster or nicer than your p5
2. a fool as you apparently dont know how to shop for cars

there is SOOO much you can ger for under 16k....MSP easily, 3s definitely, 2001 2.5rs easily, spec-v easily, jetta, GTI, G20, svt focus.....the list goes on and on....your price range isnt your limitation, finding something slower than a p5 is...
