Goldlines Installed

yeah dude, it is seriously low!

We had a little install meet at my house and one guy with eibachs and a dgm lip scraped REAL bad getting out of my driveway...Its really steep.

I have to take a pic of my car when I pull out. Its really close to scraping without a lip.
There's no way in Hell Im parking on the street, so I guess a lip Is out for me...Cept maybe the MSP lip (shrug)

i would just be paranoid i would hit a pothole and some ungodly speed and **** soemthing up.

oh God yes, potholes are scurry bad around here (nervous)

Its hard to hit em at a high speed though, since they are all in the city where you arent going too fast and can see em coming...

Highest susceptibility is at night, but thatnks God P5s have like the best headlights evAr. :D

take updated pics of the springs now that they settled a lil...and make sure its a side profile of the front wheel lik ethe before shot :)

I will...Im pissed though, i cant believe my dumb ass forgot to MEASURE the stock gap.

I guess I could just get anyone with a stock P5 to measure, it should be the same, right?

Ok, here are some pics comparing front and rear wheel gaps.

Here is a pic of my car on my driveway, proving theres no way in hell I can put a lip on her unless we grade the driveway. That is the best angle I can get w/o goin over the curb! :(

oh yeah, and If anyone with a stock p5 suspension and tires wants to help me compare wheel gap I measured mine at:

Front - 1.5"
Rear - .5"

well, there's still a chance I mgiht be able to...

I rarely ever pull out of my driveway. Mostly becaude I always pull in, which means I have to back out...but also because I know there is this clearance problem especially when the car is loaded up...i just gotta go check out my clearance when backing out...I know I have a lot more, just not sure HOW much (shrug)

yes guys, i can vouch.. i damn near ripped my front lip off on his driveway when i was over there... i remember someone telling me i should have taken it at an angle and i would be fine.. well, of course I took it at an angle!! i've been driving a lowered car w/a body kit and/or lip for many many years now.. i know how to do it, but it just seems impossible to do coming out of that driveway (forward anyhow) .. it's just too steep!!

yes, Frank is living proof that heading out of my driveway is impossible with a lip and lowered...Not to mention my car is a good .5" or more lower than his.

did you have to cut the bump stop at all ? i got the card that lists the amount that the bump stop should be cut, but there's nothing listed for the Protege

I installed these springs this morning. The drop is perfect: slightly more of a drop in the back, but it was a bit higher to begin with (I have the sedan). I cut the front and rear bumpstops at the middle crease and left the big halves on and tossed the smaller halves. It seems to be right. No problems yet. Also a note on the PITA endlinks: I doused them with a liberal coat of WD-40 every morning for 3 days before install day and they came off pretty easy. Only one of them was tough, the rear passenger side. Cornering is slightly improved... will probably be a bit better once they settle. Need an alignment though; car pulls ever so slightly to the right now. I did have to raise the tire pressure a bit after install for the car to corner well though... Lefts were REALLY bad; inside tire squealed like a donut. Funny story about the install.... I went to the auto craft center here on post and when I got there the guy in the bay next to me was putting springs on his Avenger. He and his friend had about a half-hour head start on Scott and me; they already had the front jacked up and the wheels off. 2 and a half hours later I pulled my car out of the bay for the first test drive with the Goldlines on, and they were ALMOST done putting the FIRST reassembled one back in! We stayed and tried to help them for a while, but they were hopeless. That dude's car is probably still in the bay. LOL. Also did the Foglight mod, the door chime mod, and the windows-up-without-the-car-on mod. Wow are they easy and worth it! I recommend these mods to everyone. Anyways, back to the point... The springs are great, the service from Chris at SPD racing was great, and the install went well. WOOHOO!!!!!!!

hmm...cool, thanks for the info guys. i think i'll leave the bump stops in one piece, and maybe later cut them if they don't give enough suspension travel.

ha! i think my driveway owns all. i sometimes scrape slightly when i dont go at an angle and im at stock height with an lx so i have even more clearance than a stock p5 b/c of the different front bumper. ill try to get pics if i can.
