Gold Emblems

looks really good. my suggestion is that on the protege badge, you could hand paint the backing black or laser blue. It would be a lot of work to make it look right, but would make the gold pop a little more

Well, I'm not a fan of gold, so (subjectively) I don't like them.

That said, it looks like you did a good job on them, but the Proteg badge needs the background painted out. As it is, it looks cheap, like you haven't finished the job. Since it's all one consistent color with the spaces between filled in, it looks like a chocolate bar, or something.

Mazda didn't leave them solid silver for a reason!

Yeah thats what I thought too with the Protege, I might go back with a black trim, but I melted off my stock Protege emblem and destroyed it so I don't want to ruin the gold one.

What do you guys think of instead of me painting the trim, just black out the spaces in the "P", the under part of the "R", "O", both "E"'s and the "G".?

My buddy just said take a sharpee marker lol

I re-did it.

That's a great job man... I'm hopin to get the same thing done with mine. But have you guys seen anyone try to make the Mazda emblem really look like an "M"?! I've seen a whole bunch of people whose avatar has the Mazda Flyin' "M" with the top and bottom portions cut out so that the emblem truly looks like the Letter "M". how realistic do you think that would be to get done?

Anyone know where I can find gold emblems (Mazda "M" emblem, Protege emblem, Mazda emblem) for the trunk. If not, I could get replacement chrome ones, but what would be the best way to finish it a chrome gold colour? What would be the best paint or stain out there I could use?

try duplicolor Metalcast paint, it puts a transparent color that lets chrom accesories keep their shine but adds color, also works on all metal finishes and plastics (requires extra steps) Basically it gives it an anodized look

I would have probably tried that if I would have known sooner. But the gold I used almost paint matches my rims.

yeah but with the distance between the emblems and the rims to a person looking at the car they will match. looks great, sorry i didnt post sooner

Wait a sec. Your Protege emblem has the black outline on it? I thought only the older style Proteges (the ones with the same rear but bigger headlights) had those. Odd...

Puke....
Why in the word would you do Gold.

I could see a zinc, flat style gold..but thats like Diarhea gold.

Not good for me.
Sorry.

I like it. I too didn't read all posts until later in the game. NOW I know what you meant by the black backing. I like it. Gold looks good on the blue. That's the problem with the orange MSP's. We can't use gold rims... it would just.... clash.
