Mazdaspeed 6
Few weeks ago i went and ran some horribly embarrassing numbers ranging from 16.1 to 15.0. Tonight will be different -- as long as the car holds up. I learned a few things last time about heat soak and now i have my shifter adjusted, launch control and flat foot shifting activated.

Im optimistic for some high 13s but ill be happy with even low 14s@98-99mph. I dont have the corksport intake/turbo inlet, or the ETS TMIC installed yet (havent arrived yet)

ill post an update tomorrow morning when i get home :-)

Bring a helmet. You should be able to run under 14.00 and you will need a helmet at that point. It would be a shame to get to you goal only to be told you can't run anymore. Good luck!

Thanks, hey what do you like driving better the rx8 or mazdaspeed 6? I have often been tempted to swap my speed 6 for an RX8 but i think the lack of horsepower would really irritate me.

I have driven both and you will miss the power for sure. the rx8 handles good, but not enough to make up for the power. And reving the engine to 9.5k all the time gets annoying.

Yeah, its really noticable. I enjoy them both. I prefer to drive the 8 because it speaks to what I like. The handling is great and it makes a great noise at WOT. The MS6 is a more well balanced car, and suprising people at stoplights is a ton of fun. I guess it would be a closer thing if my MS6 was modded to match my 8 (wife's car and she wont have it) and in a color that I like more (WWP FTW).

I will tell you this, it sucks that my wife's car is faster than mine in 99% of all situations. She never lets me forget it and isn't afraid to burry me at a light to remind me if we are both driving anywhere (anyone who knows her will tell you she is nuts, hell most of her friends will not even ride with her anymore). We went to the local drag strip last week and she had a bad launch (I had a car lenght at the 60') and she still drove around me and put .5 sec on me by the end of the track. If I can ever get her to go to a real track day I will destroy her, but she knows it and that will never happen.

All in all deciding which one to drive on a given day is a great situation to be in, if you ask me. I'm a pretty happy camper.

If the RX8 was turbocharged I would be driving one right now. I have joined their forums and looked into getting one, but it looks like a royal pain in the butt to even get 250whp out of one.

I raced one last summer from a roll, he had bolt ons and a 55shot of nitrous and i still won though only by about a couple feet. (I only had a catback and an intake then)

Still i like the way they look, i love rear wheel drive and i love the interior. the rotary is unique and i like that, but id be more apt to buy an RX8 if it had the MZR turbo 2.3 :-)

i would give my left testicle to a hampster for a 20b'd rx8/7 :)

imo the rotary has its strong points, and its weak points.

Update: I made a best pass of 14.65@97.97mph 2.0 60' My first pass was probably my best but i gave up way to soon and coasted to a 14.8@89. 1.9 60'.

The car was VERY consistent, i kept the hood open between each pass until it was about my turn. had one trap speed of 98.10 60's were 1.9-2.0 launch control set to 4000rpms, flat foot shifting was 5000. I wish i had a laptop available so i could modify some settings and read data logs. oh well. Every pass I shifted at 6,000 but on the way home i learned 5700ish would of been ideal. Raced a speed 6 that only had an AEM intake from a roll and i would pull at first, then he would pull on me after that. He was trapping around 94mph but thats probably because he had to shift into 5th and i didnt.

I am going to post one of my videos in a little bit against a speed 3 with just a cobb tune stage.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hc5rRSDJkVY the video was taken in 720p but youtube chopped all the quality out.

I had a great time tonight. First time at the track. My first launch, I just about stalled. I launched better the rest of the night. My best reaction time was 0.76 on the second run. My last run (4th) was a 0.91 reaction time with 1.95 at 60'. The quarter was 14.5 at 94.02. Not bad with not having great shifts, I did better letting it go to 6000 rpm. My rolling start was slow to get on the gas - too busy looking and listing at my RD. I have to get the TIP and motor mount to help. The rest will have to wait until later, too much cash. It'll come in stages. Great night

The magnaflow exhaust is not 3 inch unless you have some custom exhaust..
Unless im wrong well does anybody know otherwise. Its one of the smaller diameter piping exhausts

It was custom exhaust. 3" from the downpipe back. also i weighed my car without spare tire and it was 3570 just under a quarter tank of gas with me in it. (195lbs)

I would suggest launching at 4500 and feather the clutch then dump it and you will get a better time. My best time is a 13.6 at 103 and that was before installing my su rear diff mount havent been back since were getting a lot of rain down here.

MODS: AEM CAI,CPE TIP,TWM STAGE 2 WITH BUSHINGS,HKS BOV,DP,HSD COILOVERS,DEVILS OWN WMI,CPE FMIC,2010 SPEED3 RIMS,SHARK FIN,COBB AP STAGE 2,SPC BJ,CUSTOM 3" STRAIGHT PIPE,DASH HAWK,PS BOOST GAUGE,DEFROST POD,SU REAR DIFF

in the 12 runs i did when i was out last week(first and only time so far) i didnt once have to use 5th... i found myself upset that the gearing required be to need 4th... all i have done is the MSCAI

What were your trap speeds? my speed 6 falls on its face at about 90mph in 4th gear so if i didnt shift into 5th id be coasting anyway (pre cobb AP)

What were the temps out there? That is alot of mods for 103mph trap. But guess it makes sense considering they trap 97ish stock.
