Glovebox Problem

I have a 2004 Mazda 3. To close my glovebox, I must pull on the handle while closing the door. It does not close simply by pushing it. Sometimes it opens on its own and it seems not to be closed properly. I took it to the dealership and their initial assessment was that there was no problem. I have seen mentions of this similar problem before. Can you all give me your experience with this issue?

I have a new 2007 3, and my glove box works as intended. I was going to suggest you try adjusting the latch or the catch, until I took a look at mine. Granted, it was dark and cold outside, so I didn't want to spend too much time figuring it out, but WTF? How do you get to the mechanism? I'll try to take another look, but I don't think there is an easy answer to this one.
