It looks like we will move forward with the project. Now we need a testbed car.

MAM you guys rock this is just what will keep me in my protege 5.
I was hoping someone would make a base kit that i could afford.
Many people forget to add the cost of install to the $4000 price
tag of turbo kits(not everyone can do it yourself)this kit is perfect
for people who have not done internals nor want to because of
the cost.for those who were not able to get a mazdaspeed, this
is the next best thing.

I would happily hand you the keys to my car to test but, this is my
only mode of transportation for me and the wife, unless we work
something out .....wink wink .....let me know

i can't wait to see the results of this kit. go with the TDO4!!! keep the cost low.

interesting... t3 sounds good... now anyone who has this kit and wants to get serious can always drop in a t3/t4... :-D

Beau, you mentioned earlier that the T3 setup will run the same pipes as the MAM SS kit. The only difference would be the manifold and the turbo. Seeing as you are planning to make this a stage capable setup (ie. intercooler later), does this mean that your MAM SS kit will also have the same options?

My hope is that, should I not have enough money to purchase the whole kit at once, would I be able to have a functional non-intercooled MAM SS kit until the funds are available?

Finally, could we have a potential price breakdown of the MAM SS kit with stages and the MAM budget kit with stages?

Thanks in advance!

Beau .... I got my intercooler .... THANK YOU ... Great work. ..

Man if I had a 3rd gen, I would jump all over this .. figure 2200 or so for the T3 set up .. ohh man.. That is sweet. An intercooler can always be added later, that's no biggie.

For the guys not up on the turbo talk, do your research on the subject and you will be ok. Searching on the net can explain a lot of things..

As I said.. I would be all over this if I had a 3rd gen.. I wouldn't even be able to wait .. lmao..

it would almost HAVE to eliminate the first cat... if you could fit a turbo in boefore it it would be so close to the outlet on the trubo, and you'd fry the catalyst.... but I'm sure you'll keep the second cat... and who knows, maybe he'll put in a different primary cat, or provide an O2 bung to weld in after the 2nd cat... who knows.

actually both turbo's cost pretty much the same (16g vs t3) according to ebay that is...

if beau is going with the t3... their must be a reason...

beau... want to shed some light on why you are going with the t3?

Yea, I was interested in the cheaper turbo too.

so is it safe to say you are looking for a new testbed? or was there a backup all along?
