GI: MSP Tubular Mani / Downpipe

usually with downpipes u have your flange |- and a pipe butted to it (placed against), and welded around the perimiter of the pipe. this creates a "step" in flow. you have your opening from the turbo flange, then this open pipe all of a sudden. its not a smooth transition. The way were doing it is, you form the downpipe to the same shape as the flanges opening, and stuff it in the pipe and weld it up from the inside. So now you have a smooth transition from the turbo to the downpipe.

i dont know if it will make u regret it. If people follow through and get this, they wont be dissapointed. I cant do much with the price other than not mark them up. This place wont cut corners and if you ask them to, they wont make it. I have tremendous respect for that.
Ah, makes perfect sense now. Oh, it wasn't the price (as I'm sure this will be pricey as well) but your description. Eh, oh well, if my MAM ever decides to crack/break (which they have) and these look real nice, I'll just sell the MAM and pick up one of these in the future...

It will at least take a few months. As i stated several times, there wont be any corners cut so this thing will be flow tested, modeled in cad, and the fit must be up to my standards.

thanks terbow, I respect the attention to quality and would rather pay more now and get the quality then have to throw more $$$ at it later

thank you. thats my plan, make it once. I cant say it will never crack, as that would be foolish, but i will do everyhting in my power to stop it from doing so. i think between the mani bracing, the molded pipes, and the braced downpipe we will have a solid piece.

since were at a standstill for information untill i gather parts. i got some pics from one of the shops cars.

I cant show you the rest but this is a testiment to their work quality. Enjoy.

edit:

in case anyone is wondering what the nuts and bolts are on the mani are, those are to allow for thermal expansion. Yet another detail to help stop cracking.

just out of curiosity will there be a price difference if there are more people? say 20 people vs. 10?

Yes. How much? I can't say cause i dont have a base price yet. But i will definately have them run the numbers when i get closer to the time

Do you think you could post any CAD models or anything once the design process has started? I'm kind of curious what this will look like and the bracing intrigues me. I'm beginning to think that if I like the design enough I may just sell my MAM and go with this. Like I said, I'd have to see the design though.

Thats up to the engineers but i dont see an issue with it. Im going to post whatever i can along the way.

good news, i have the stock mani, and a head on its way thanks to Haze20. Once i get them, they go right to the shop so they can start modeling.

Recieved the stock mani and head today. Just waiting on turbo exhaust housing and ill send it all over to the shop.

gears. turning.
