At what RPM do you guys get off on first? Im not talking about launching it either, i mean plain and simple just getting off first at a red light turned green. Im trying to find the sweet spot and im having some issues with it. This is the most difficult car have driven in my my life. (sad2)

2700? Crap, that's high... You leave every light like that?

thats when I change gears...thought that was what he meant. If its just the initial pulling out the clutch...roughly 1200rpms...HAHA!

whew, I was starting to feel very bad for your clutch

I usually engage the clutch first and then apply the gas right as the rpms are about to drop. Soooo 1000 rpms or so.

Yeah...I just rev to 1200. Start pulling out clutch, RPMs drop to about 1000 or a little less and then you're off! Took me a while to get used to it. Listening to music too loud definitly messes with my startups. Make sure you listen to your engine!

Happy Shifting!

BTW, when i first looked into this thread I thought it had something to do with girlfriend issues. ;)

Too funny... I wonder what RPM would stand for in that particular case? Rear Position Movement? Rectal Probing Maneuver? I could go on....

Back on topic...

Is this with the traction control on or off?

It's actually not bad launching in 2nd, there's enough torque to get her moving pretty well. I haven't tested it at a track though.

Launching in second helps in poor weather, but you have to ride the clutch a bit more. Not something I'd do on a regular basis.

ROFL with the sex comments! I listen to my engine alot to get it right, but thats the problem. When i crank up the music i cant tell what RPM i got off on. So its a bad practice cause if there is too much noise, then you ride the clutch too much. I seem to be getting it up to 1500RPM when at a dead light. Any lower than that and it bogs a little. I think im too protective of the clutch. I dont wanna wear her out too fast.

I didn't want to either when I first started learning. It's ok, I usually count "1 Mississippi" slowly and that should be almost the right amount of time for me to let off the clutch. Try it.

Ill give it a whirl today. Last week i had my music loud and i didnt realize that i revved it up to 2000 RPM....

For slightly faster launches, 1200-1500 rpms. For normal launches, anywhere from 1000-1200 rpms for me. With a little finessing of the clutch, the car can be launched from just above idle as well.

In the very low rpms there is little torque, so launching isn't going to be as easy as a car with a bigger displacement engine.
