get a madza3?

well i know answers in this forum may be a little biased but i was wondering how is mazdas current reliablity? my friends keep telling me not to get the mazda 3 because its a focus with a mask lol. but i really like the look of the 2010 mazda 3. im trying to decide between a madza 3i sport(or watever the dealer tries to throw at me for hopefully under 19 g's), a honda fit, and subaru impreza 2.5i hatchback. but im monstly concerned about the reliabilty, so if anyone has any comments on that.

also i notice that mazda has a special on its 3i sport rite now for leasing.

Nowhere near a Focus. A Focus is a low end pos. Obviously whatever we say here won't make much of a difference as you seem to care waht your friends think. Mazda 3 is the way to go. This is my second one and so far never had a problem with my 2006 or this 2010. The Mazda 3 blows away most cars right now with the style, features, options in this price range. Try building a car online with the same features and options in this price. You can't.

well i came here to see if my friends were rite or not...but im really liking the new mazda 3, and i really want to get it. so im just asking for some support thats its build quality is crap and will have many annoying problems...

I believe the only thing a Ford Focus and a 2010 Mazda 3 have in common is the frame - The car rides on an improved version of the global Ford Focus C1 platform

I've only had my Mazda3 for 10 days - so I can't speak much about the long-term reliability - but it's definitely a fun car to drive.
I started car shopping looking for a mid-sized car and was looking at the Mazda6 - but after test driving a Mazda3...I was hooked...and had to go for the fun factor. I decked it out with Leather, Sunroof, Bose, etc. to make up for the little bit of comfort I'd miss from not getting the 6

Go with your gut feeling, not your friend's gut feeling.

One other thing - If you live in a hot environment where you will be using the A/C a lot - I would recommend getting the 2.5(s) model. Running the A/C in a 2.0(i) full time will make the car feel sluggish...and you will curse us for recommending the Mazda 3 to you.

I've had mine for just about 3 years now, and I couldn't be happier.

In a way, your friend is right: The 3 is something of a collaboration between Ford, Mazda & Volvo. And all 3 companies have cars that benefited from the process: The Euro-market Focus, the S40, the 3 & 5. The US-market Focus is in no way related.

Go to the Consumer Reports website and pay $5 for a one-month membership. You will learn that the Mazda3 is a recommended car, while Fords are crap.

I stopped buying Fords after my 1998 Windstar bought brand new for over $25k needed 5 transmissions in 5 years.

These were the top 5 most reliable according to Consumer Reports Magazine.
1. Honda
2. Subaru
3. Toyota
4. Mazda
5. Nissan

I also have a 96 Protege, which is the old version of the 3. I drive it hard everyday with 142,000 miles and it is great. I had it for 4 years now and I am the 7th owner and it started out life as a rental car. But never gave me problems. Just regular maintenance.

No more American cars for me, been screwed too many times with over priced junk assembled in Mexico. Parts are also made cheaply, so they can get more profit for their corporate honcho's. Last car was a Pontiac, and what a POS it was.....

If you love to drive, the Mazda 3 is a great choice....if you just need transportation, the Focus will suffice. Drive them both and I think the build quality of the Mazda will be evident.
