general tires any good?

I have had them on my stock wheels since October of last year. I was kind of leary about them at first but they were my only choice at the time. I was out of town visiting my mom 8 hours away and she wouldnt let me drive home with the huge bubble in the sidewall of my other tires. I am overall very pleased with them, they seem to be pretty good tires actually. They wear very slowly even with the amount of driving I do, and are very good for the twisties

well if anything i've always seen them priced to sell that's for sure. so if your like me and just don't have tons of cash laying around to pay double just to have a name brand wraped around my rim then go for it.

I was wondering the same thing about the General Exclaim UHP. I saw them on tirerack in a 215/45/17 and they had the best ratings in their category (Ultra High Performance Summer). I read the reviews which were for the most part really good, but some people said they were noisy and sounded a bit like off-road tires due to the aggressive tread pattern. But at the same time, they have an "Excellent" noise level rating and most people said they were quieter compared to other tires like the Yokohama Parada Spec-2. At $72 a tire for a 215/45/17, it's a little hard to beat.

i just got some 215/40/17's on my new rims for 65 a tire at a local tire spot. no taxes and free mounting and balancing. i had some 18's before but decided i didn't want to spend 400+ for some new tires. the whole set i have on my car now (pic in my sig.) cost me 352 for those ADR's(new) and 260 for the tires(new)= 612. i doubt i'll ever get those prices again

wish they had more 16 inch options. i would like to get 205/50 or 55's for my 7 inch rims!

any explanation?

my mom had them on her car and they were terrible in the wet. granted they were not a performance tire. if it is true that general and continental are affiliated then yes they will be of poor quality. bmws use continentals a lot and they wear out quick are over priced.
the only way to know is to buy some and try them out and let us know what you think. it might be they suit your driving style.

I just got these 2 days ago. It started raining this morning and there is a spot that I had always hydroplaned on the highway. So I drove that area and wow! First time I didn't panic and no hydroplaning! Paid $388 mounted and balanced out the door for them. So far so good. Road noise is very low compared to the other stuff I ran before.

My roommate ordered these for his new deep dish wheels he's putting on his volvo. I was leery at first and was trying to steer him towards the Yokohama AVS ES100 but the treadwear rating on the generals and the price is.. wow. They are a great deal. I doubt I would buy them, I just can't trust the brand for some reason.
