Genera clutch question

I bought my mazdaspeed used 15,000 miles on it.

I hear people can spin the tires 1,2,3 gears.

my car is stock. I can only chirp/spin a little from 1-2 gear and does not spin at all in 3rd stock tires.

So my question is, is that normal for a stock ms3 or is the clutch losing traction/worn out?

I dont drag the car but just wondering what it was suppose to be able to do stock. thanks

Or is my car about normal

Yeah that's normal for stock. Depending on weather conditions such as if it's colder out 40 degress or below it's a lot easier to spin because the tires can't warm up enough to grip. In a sense our car out of the factory is very restricted when it comes to exhaust and intake. A lot of people have seen 10-15whp with just a cold air intake and that alone makes it feel like a world of difference which can cause you to spin 2nd-3rd gear.

You can also tell when your clutch is going up because it will slip nearly all the time and won't be able to catch the flywheel correctly. 15k miles I think your clutch is fine. My friend was on the highway and put his car into 2nd gear by accident trying to put it into 4th and actually stripped his gear. He has been driving for 8 months with no 2nd gear, but his clutch is still running strong since the day he got it. Not only that, but there's people with 300-310WHP running their stock clutch going to the strip on a weekly basis with no issues.

As for your last question about what it does stock, if you're asking the 1/4 times the lowest I've seen was a 13.7 which is perfect launch and perfect shifts, not likely. More likely numbers are around 13.9 - 14.1.

Any other questions, let me know.

that answers my question! thanks... just wanted to make sure it was running normal. Sometimes I read these post people mentioning they spin tires so easily. So I thought something might be wrong with my car.

thanks again

These cars seem to have a wide variance of what they will do in stock form.
Bone stock mine would spin first until the traction control kicked in or I let up on the gas. In second it got a good healthy spin also, and would bark the tires hard going into third.
Since the addition of the new intake, I don't have the same bottom end torque that I used to, so less spinning of tires, but better high rpm acceleration.

yes its normal, its difficult to get them to spin into 3rd. ive done it before but with the squishy stock mount its harder to put power to the ground. yes 14.0-14.4 is most common for stock depending on experience at the track and racing cars. But 13's are definitely possible and it has been done stock i saw 13.8 for COMPLETELY stock
