gauging interest in SMIC

Well, I never heard back from them on Friday, but I will contact them tomorrow and post information on whether or not I am able to get a core for a decent price tomorrow night. The good news is that Spearco makes an intercooler core that will work, now all that's left is getting my hands on one for a good price and fabbing up the end tanks to work with the stock pipes as well as the hardpipes I will be receiving on Thursday. The core will flow around 350hp and I think 570cfm. I will post again tomorrow night whether or not I can get it. If not, then I will have to find another dealer and go through the process again. Well, atleast I know the part number for the core now.

<---interested!! SMIC should have high quality IC, good welds, quality material and a decent price (will pay $500 shipped for a quality IC rather than $400 for a half-ass IC that is not much better than stock).

The core I have located is a Spearco core. The company here in town is charging me way to much for it, so I have placed some calls and sent some emails to other companies who carry their products. I will let everyone know if I finally find a decent price on one. $350 for the core won't allow me to sell them for $500 or less. I am searching, I may have to switch to a less known name brand if I can't get a decent price on the Spearco, which is a shame because I know Spearco makes a good product.

I'm willing to bet that if you tell Spearco that you are going to buy 20+ cores they will down the price substancially from $350.

I was hoping the dealer here would, but no luck. I got ahold of Spearco and they will make the end-tanks themselves according to my specs and put the mounting tabs on. This not only saves me time, but will also save you money and will be done better than what I could do. I need to take the intercooler out and send them the specs for the end-tanks and where the tabs need to go. Right now it's looking like it will be less than $500, but they will need to see the end tank design before I can get a final price on it. If I can get 28 people to buy one, the price will be about $450. 28 gets me to their buy-in where you get more of a discount.

I imagine they are using aluminum endtanks. What would be the size of the new core and what type of core? Would it be a bolt on replacement? I'm not trying to rush you with these questions, but if you can answer and give a set final price including shipping you could probably get at least 20 people to front the $$ in a GB sort of scenario. I know there are at least that many if not more who have gone the hardpipe route.

I'm still working on a final dollar amount. I will let you know, hopefully tomorrow. And yes they will be aluminum end tanks, and it will be a direct bolt-on replacement as far as I can tell. I will tell the size of the core after it is developed. It does flow 570cfm, and according to Spearco is rated for 630hp. I think that is a misprint, and it should really support around 350-400hp from my experience with intercoolers, they usually support a horsepower number lower than the cfm it flows. I may be wrong in that, but that seems to be the norm with the intercoolers I've looked at.

As soon as possible. I just recently had an unexpected expenditure, so if there are any TX people out there willing to drive to Waco, I will order one for you at my cost and install it for free. There is a dyno in town and I will pay half the dyno costs. PM me for those of you who are interested. I have nailed down a price on the kit for the most part, still waiting on Spearco to firm up the price for the end tanks, they have the diagram and I am waiting for their response. So far it's looking like 1 through 15 = $500 plus shipping, 16 through 27 = $480 plus shipping, and 28+ = $450 plus shipping. Ofcourse Texas residents will have to pay sales tax of 8.25%. These prices are not definite and are subject to change.

I have nailed down hardpipes and the price with them will be $700 for those interested in a complete kit. So that is hardpipes and the intercooler for $700.

i live in The Woodlands, which is just north of Houston. What would you need me to drive to waco for? I might be up for it... Just let me know the details...
