Gas light

I'm new to this fancy world of having fancy warning lights on my dash. The PR5 has a low gas tank warning light, I was wondering how much gas is actually left when that light comes on. The owners book did not say, rather "Get gas immediately."

your good for like another gallon or so....it's not an exact science with the gasoline light, when it's on don't try and see how long you can hold out =p just get some gas

yup... about 2.1 - 2.5 gallons...
that isn't alot lot.... considering you may only get 23mpg you can only go for less than 50miles.... if you are on stuck the interstate it could be a problem....

It's about 2.3gal for 2.0L cars, 2.1gal for 1.6/1.8L cars. There is a TSB out for the Protege (I think it's on TheMan's Protege FAQ) that specifies the amounts exactly.

Last week drove over 30 miles after mine came on. When I filled it up it too exactly 13 gallons.

Is it just my hubby or do all men push the limit when the light comes on? Every time this happens when we're on the road he'll pass like 2 or 3 stations before getting gas. It's enough to make me go gray at 25. (boom06)

The only reason I'd pass up gas stations before filling up is if those stations were expensive and I thought they'd be cheaper down the road... but I do generally fill up within 10-15 miles of the light coming on

p5 take 45 litres of fuel, and 10 extra for when the light goes on...

and when the light goes on u can still drive 50km

I susually can get about 55 miles after the light comes on to get gas. After that I don't push it. I usually ignore the light and go by thre needle. As long as it is above the 'E' I'm good.
