FYI...caliber srt-4 info

Hey guys just thought i would share some info that was prob. missed by most of you..the car will come with an adj wg from the factory just like the stage2 wg was avail for the neon. What this means is for 10 min worth of time and 0 dimes the car can be made faster. some reports are claiming to gain back the 15+ whp that dodge orig rated the car at -- 300 v 285--- but are gaining a ton more torque. the prob is keeping the ecu happy and not pull timing. This most likely will be cured with a map clamp. But i think this will put this head to head in the 1/4 mile with the ms3 when driven by the same driver/track/day. now the interior/brakes are still the same obviously but the 1/4 times will easily be improved.

this is purely food for thought...i in no way am being a fan boy so please do not preach that.. just sharing info. that the car can be made faster easily.

Interesting, what will it do the quarter mile in without the adjustment. I still don't like the styling and car and driver didn't give it a good review, not that it means much.

ya, in the end, the caliber will just be another alternative to our car depending on your tastes. the sporty hatch + monstrous power market is going NUTS these days...^_^;

say, dread, how did you like your upgrade to the TWM bushings? i just ordered a set for myself too. do you still run the stock shifter? that's what i will be doing...stock shifter with the bushings, cause that's the only thing that REALLY bothers me about the stock shifter setup: the mushiness...=/

I agree...2nd year change maybe?(flash)

You would hope so, because alot of the reviews don't seem pleased with it. They did a good job for what they had to work with, but the car sounds generally softer than the ms3 (aside from raw power). Let's hope the next srt vehicle isn't as much of a let down. Finishing last in all the comparos is something very new for srt.

I'll believe it when I see it. If they are putting adjustable WGA's on the car from the factory, they may as well also sell the car without a warranty, because they are just asking for blown engines.

Personally, I think you are just pulling stuff out of your ass. Sorry dude, but overall, the Caliber SRT sucks, and is NOT as good a car as either the MS3 or the Neon SRT before it. Dodge did the best with what they had, but to quote Autoweek "even the best chef in the world can only do so much with a can of SPAM. You can't make a world class meal with a can of SPAM, and you can't make a world class hot hatch with a Caliber"

I think it's becoming clearer the caliber srt-4 is more hype than anything else. It's fast yes, but the reviews and stats haven't been kind. Even if this turns out to be true, I don't think many would care. It's just lacking in a few important areas, some of them being looks, interior and handling. It's been said already but I'll say it again - they should've just kept the neon.

I dont get it... why can't they just make a proper interior? Is it really that hard?

Everyone hates it, and it's the reason alot of people dont buy one/reason reviews lower the score.

You would figure that would be something easy to improve. Hell, even if they just clone a Honda/Mazda interior, sure it would be a copy, but better than what they have now...

No LSD.. rely on brakes to do the work... as if we need yet another thing to wear out the brakes on... not only will they wear during normal braking but every time you turn LOL... the guy that came up with this solution owned stock in the brake pad manufacturers

I'm with you. Though I might be in the minority here, I actually dig the looks of this thing. After reading (or rather viewing the pics) in the recent C&D article, it's clear that this thing isn't nearly as BIG as everyone thinks. In fact, it's just barely bigger than the MS3 and about the same as the WRX!

So what's wrong with it? For me, other than the aforementioned strange LSD-less setup, the interior is a complete deal-breaker. I mean seriously dodge...wtf??? Did you pull the steering wheel off a freakin caravan or what? Nice job with the seats... kudos for the turbo gauge (although it would be nice to actually be able to see it!) and that performance cluster thing sounds cool.... but the rest of the interior... so bad it hurts. you asked if it's really that hard. the answer is yes... literally! hard plastic cheapness abounds. thing is though... should that be a surprise? most people dig the looks of the 300 & Charger... but those interiors suck ass too! clearly dodge either thinks people don't care... or they're just ****** stupid. Unfortunately, the good ole american public will probably prove they're right.

The bushings are definately worth it. I used to miss shifts from 2-3 but haven't missed one since. The shifter feels solid now. I am probably going to get the short shifter as well, but I may wait for cobb's to come out. You won't be disappointed with the bushings and the stock shifter. If the car came like this reviewers wouldn't complain about the shifter.

oh sweeeet...that's good to hear, cause i was thinking the same thing about waiting for a cobb short shifter...:D

i got my bushings in on sat and had them installed in 30min...it was everything i had hoped it to be! shifting is much crisper and cleaner...if only the car had come this way, cause then i wouldn't have given the shift box a second thought! ><;

If i am pulling s*** outta my ass...why don't you go and talk to aaron with real tune...he should set the facts, not the bs, straight with ya. Oh and he's had about 1.5-2 years developing upgrades for the caliber srt already btw! He has plenty of info on the manifolds and turbo design. I never state anything w/o being able to back it up. The car may suck in the interior/exterior styling but i think that it'll be a 1/4 mile monster in no time.

have a great day bast!

everyone read the article on the MAZDA website.... click on performance tab and then on the tcs/dcs tab under the tires and watch and READ the flash movie about the traction control...

"While cornering, loss of traction is detected. The system adjusts engine power. BRAKES are applied to specific wheels. Traction performance is enhanced."

yes, brakes are used for tcs/dsc, but this is not as big of a deal as LSD, because LSD is used every time you heavily apply power on a turn whereas tcs/dcs isn't used unless you're really pushing the limits of safety on a turn. the former happens way more often than the latter.

it's as mocoso says: we don't need an _additional_ thing mashing on our brakes to wear them down even faster. most dsc/tcs systems do, in fact, use brakes for correction, but a well-designed LSD is not usually implemented without brakes.
