Funny: Against CF? Discuss.

HA!
Speaking of which has anyone seen the recent commerical for the game? Bad, very bad. Completely condones street racing and the "fast N furi" crowd.

BS!
Its not enough of a reduction to show even a 0.01 second reduction at the track in any style race. 99.9% of the people with them would be better off going on Jenny Craig.
Its a totaly useless modification.
I don't think I would go that far 1sty. I know it's not like adding the new hood will take .5 seconds off your 1/4mi time but less weight is always a good thing. If you do a bunch of parts like that it adds up. Like when I ripped the stock sub enclosure out of my car I could feel a difference. Did it make me way faster no but it was enough to tell. That thing was like 50-60 lbs I think so CF can be a good thing.

I don't know the weights of the stock parts that people usually get in CF but I wouldn't say it is a useless mod. A new CF trunk for my car weights 8 lbs, that is freakin light. And I think the new hood is like 10ish. That does not seem useless to me at all.

There is no way the car got any better form loosing the 30 Ilbs form the stock sub enclosure. Also, the stock hood and trunk lid don't way all that much as it is. Even loosing 100 pounds is going make virtualy no differnce. As mentioned already, fo carbon fiber to be useful, the entire body shell needs to be carbon fiber.

Personally, I think your car looks great, except for the gas tank door and the rear valence thing. Also, if I were you, I would have chosen to paint the top part of the autoexe lip and the sideskirts.

Also, many people say that cf look ggood on black cars, but I personally think that both colors aren't the same so it looks kind of weird.

i loved your car until you got that cf gas cover...and the side skirts...and the front lip...and the rear valence...and that stupid strip on your trunk....and the mirror covers...and all the cf interior crap....oh, and the roll call thing, but thats not cf

Coming over from Miatas, what cracked me up were the folks that wanted CF Hoods for weight reduction on Miatas. Miata factory hoods are Aluminum. Most CF hoods weigh much more than the factory hood!

Bzzzzz! Try again!

I want a Black Anodized hood for my Miata!

The carbon fiber "weight" reducation doesn't bother me to much, what is really annoying are those that strip their interiors!

The thing weight way more than 30, but I never measured it. And you can feel a different cause I tested it with it in, then took it out, then just threw it in the trunk again and I can feel a difference. It's super slight I'm not saying it does great things but it does something. And I used to have a formula for weight reduction in the 1/4 mi but I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with you on this one :). I've seen too many cars with simple weight reduction that gained a good chunk of time. Yes their weight was more than just a CF peice or two. But anyway chat on...

i have a CF hood on both my cars, i like it i got the CF hood for the protege for $100 so i can't complain, and on the rx7's the stock FC hood is silly heavy 50+lbs so i saved about 35lbs going to CF i need to lose as much weight as i can on that car

i like my CF hood because it gave me a nice vent to release my heatz0rs. plus it matches with my black car well. otherwise, i wouldve painted it all.

each to their own...

u either love it or hate it

u either are show or u are a go person

i think in this case, i presume u are leaning towards 'show' quality of a car. many show cars have random pieces on them that make them 'showy' like vinyl and other non-functional pieces (my cf head light covers for example)

idk, your car isnt ugly with all of that cf nor is it beautiful, i stand neutral about your car at this point in time (with reguards to the cf concept)

peace

this is similar to your tiny rims and automatic transmission, no?

It serves no practicle purpose other then to waste money.
except i bought the eyelids and hood, and nothing else. so i guess i really didnt waste any money.

I just dont understand your thinking here. With this logic you are telling me that you could run down the street with 50lbs on your back just as fast as you could if you were naked? I doubt it man. I'll agree that in most cases carbon fiber is purely for looks. But it does have functionality even in small doses.

cf, not my thing, don't really care if someone has it either...but imo it should replace stock parts for the weight reduction, and for people saying 100lbs won't make a difference, you must not know much about drag racing because 100lbs makes a BIG difference...i know from experience :D, every time i took out alot of weight from the car(did it in steps) you could DEFINATELY tell the difference not only in my head but at the track it was proved also, and when someone would ride in my car it felt alot more slugish...which is probably the reason i removed the passenger seat too lol
