Full Moon Fun Run - July 18, 2008

Hoping that we get another night like last.

You can head here and check out the weather forecast hour by hour.

I definitely need some sleep before tonight...only 3 hours last night.

yea on the way home in cody's speed6 last night u could turn off your headlights and still see the road.

Which is exactly why this night run was planned for the full moon. Has nothing to do with being able to look up and say "Ooo, pretty", as implied by mazdaspeedster3. :)

Still a 30% chance of t-storms after 10:00... (sad1)

Inbev, also known as Labatts.

Funny none of the news ever mentions that they only mention Stella and Becks. They are now the largest beer distributor in the world so they probably own a few more here and there.

I'm pretty open for time so whenever works for everyone else.

Everyone at least make the attempt. If it starts raining then we can bail. I will say, it could be one weather condition on half the run and another condition on the other half.

We do cover a lot of ground and I have literally seen rain at my neighbors house but not mine before so I'm sure we will have a variety of weather throughout the run. I just wont wash my car beforehand.

Radar is still looking favorable. Remember, check your tires, lights, and I'd suggest bringing radios and flashlights just in case. I'll have the radar and the map handy as well.

Got my hand helds already in the car. Mag light next to the seat and my tires are what they are... LOL... These brigdestones are horrible in water but I can hold the road. Most of us will be on those tires.
Steve, how are you bringing the radar? You mount that to your car?

Yeah you didnt see Steves newest mod, the doppler 9000 radar mounted on the trunk, pretty sweet....

Radios, mag light, gps, and bel i940 ready to go.

Water on the road isn't my biggest concern (although it's in the top five). The ambient light of a full moon is specifically why I chose this night to have the run. I honestly do NOT feel safe making the run, at night, on wet roads, with the clouds coving any ambient light source. Let's face it... what we're doing is dangerous enough in the day time. To add huge complicating factors like darkness and wet roads increases the risk exponentially. You also have to remember that not only do wet roads decrease traction, they also decrease visibility due to water on the windshield and decrease the effectiveness of your headlights, due to road reflection.

It was creepy enough making the run by myself under a moonlit sky with dry roads. If it's cloudy and dry, I wouldn't be as happy but it could still be a possibility. Any wetness and I'm out. If you guys want to run in the dark and rain, then you're all (mostly) adults and that's your choice.

I'm playing Chuck Gadica right now keeping an eye on the doppler from work. I've got the 8500 X50 ready to go. Radios and lights will be in the car when I get home.

Yes, we are a GO! We will have some cloud cover tonight, but the rain looks minimal and later in the evening (10:45-11ish). If you have any questions, get ahold of me on my cell (734-624-6022) and I hope to see everyone that signed up there.

Good times last night guys! Glad the cloud cover didn't rain on our parade. Definitely had some funny moments (Pickett Fence anyone?) but overall the drive went much better than I had hoped for. I'm down for doing one again next year.
