Fujita CAI Installed on the MazdaSpeed6.

I just read this on the fujita website

Cleaning the air filter is simple and can be done using soapy, lukewarm water, and let air dry. The Super Flow High Performance Air Filter™ contains a synthetic fiber that does not contain any oil.

NICE! I didn't know fujita filters were that easy to clean.....

sooo i guess ill just dunk it in warm water with soap, should i leave it in thier for a while or just in and out?

Hey snooky,
Steps 13 and 14 are the B****!!! If you have the equipment to do it, i would take the tire off so you have more room to get in there. The very first time i did it in my drive way with the car on the ground. So you dont NEED to take it off... its just easier. Also like people are saying, dont put the intake too far inside the filter. I guess it causes problems... Good luck man. The directions r very easy to follow once u get in there.

test pipes get rid of the cat. converter.......... acid since you live in jersey you should make sure that's not something against your emissions laws or you're just looking for trouble from police....

everything is illegal in NJ

Jersey may suck, but not everything is illegal in NJ .. But tampering with emissions devices are illegal EVERYWHERE

yep, pretty much... it use to be ok in FL, since there's no emissions law, but now there's a law about altering the emissions devices (pretty much exhaust) on your car.... you can pretty much run a catback exhaust, but removing the cats nowadays are considered altering the emissions. aka no more pollution.

people aren't gonna listen though. :p

In oregon they never tested for it or anything. But in washington state my family had a hell of a time with that stuff.

uh not so much down here in LAS VEGAS , lol

Just because they dont test emissions does not mean it is legal to remove cats. It is a FEDERAL requirement, and local regulations can not go against federal laws.

Where you are, they may just look the other way, but if you piss off the wrong person, they could throw the book at you.

I got a dumb Q?

when i got my test pipe, the instructions manual, stated that i must remove the second cat to instal the TP, why do we have to cats?

yeah the second cat is about half of what the first cat is. i passed emissions test with only my first cat on and the tp and cat back straight thru. the inpsector and i didn't think it would pass but it did, and i was happy haha.

In jersey..they stick a mirror underneath ur car to check for cats.
U can't see the 1st one b/c it's mounted up high..near the turbo. and they will only see the test pipe and So that's an autofail.

Can't you explain to them that your cat is actually on the downpipe of your car and that's how mazda designed it? LOL

It's not like cops really sit around and study how many cats come on what cars....(pow)

i forget who posted pics of their instructions, but whoever it was, thank you lol hopefully those will come in handy when i go to install mine.
for anyone that bought the mazdaspeed one from the dealer, does it come with instructions or no?
ive put on a cai and taken it off dozens of times on my old car (galant) but its not quite the same lol so i just wanna make sure

AND, im not understanding y people are sayin the cai is bad in the winter? i thought the whole point was to breathe in colder air, so wouldnt it be better?
i never had problems wit the cai on the galant and i had in on in the winter all the time.
