Fuel system problems...

Well, I've been having issues with my car going lean irratically. Sometimes, I am pig rich, and others, I go lean under boost. I even raised the fuel pressure on the BEGI RRFPR, and still the same thing. I put the FM voltage clamp back in today, and it works fine. I still had some of the same issues still. I was definitely a lot richer, but not where I should be for the numbers I have in the MPI analog map. I know the voltage clamp was working because I was using the Nology PDA Dyno OBDII scan tool to monitor the voltage on the 1st O2 sensor. It was clamping the voltage right where it should. Now I know that it has to be something with my fuel system. I do have 110,000 Miles on my car, and the injectors were NEVER cleaned regularly like they should...Not to mention the 98 PSI of fuel pressure I was pushing thru those little things... :( Mazdamastertech is sending me his old injectors, and I will swap them out to see if that makes a differnce. I need to get a handle on this before I can realize any real power.

what about the fuel filter, have you ever changed that out. I would try some Lucas fuel system cleaner for a temporary clean. With about 110,000 miles its about time to change out the fuel filter

Well, it accually happens sporatically. It will act great for about 50% of the time, like one or more of my injectors are failing, or like I have something killing my fuel flow. I get rich as rich as I am supposed to be for about 1/2-1 second after I let off, but I step back on it, and I'm getting into the high 13's-14's again. The clamp is working just like it did before I had the MPI Tunner. I solder the clamp in this time. The fuel pressure spikes to 63 PSI, not to mention OBDII should not even be in the mix with the FM clamp. So this leads me to believe that I have fuel system problems. With my high milage, I wouldn't be surprised.

1-try only controlling extra injectors
2-clean the stockers
3-ditch RRFPR
4-new fuel filter

I just ordered the following parts to change out my fuel filter:

The fuel pump housing/filter unit : GY01-13-ZE0
The fuel pickup sock : ZL02-13-ZE1
The lock washer gasket : FEH2-13-ZE4
Rubber attachment that connects the fuel pump to the housing : ZL01-13-ZE5

Grand total for me after Taxes: $107 <---Take into account this is with a small discount!

It's going..but unfortunaltey..not as well as i was hoping.

I have moved the IATsensor out of the intake and away from the heat. And i noticed i started to run richer. Tomm..i will be doing more research including reworking the turbo module.

I know we spoke about getting your injector cleaned more then a few times. Does this mean you have never replace you fuel filter also?

Thanks again

Yep, you got it!. Found the correct info on changing out the filter, and am doing it.
Cleaning fuel injectors and replacing the fuel filter is a 30,000 mile service.

How can you have a mean street machine on a 100,000 fuel system?

Thanks again

The fuel filter for our Mazda's are supposed to be a lifetime type thing. The filter is in the fuel pump housing. My milage is definitely up there with the lifetime specs or close. :D

At what level of hp? Mazda did not think people would be trying to make 2 to 3 times the stock power level with the stock filter over the life of the car.

Thanks again
