Fuel Pressure Regulator?

have problems time to time with my 94 DX SOHC. When she is warm and i go to start her i have to hammer down on the gas pedal and keep pumping it while she sputters for a while until she gets going then it smells like gas and smokes a little. This also occasionally happens when i stop at a stop light/stop sign, but is more often when i am starting it while it is warm. Never have any problem with cold starts (Even here in Minnesota, when it is -30). Could this be the fuel pressure regulator? or something else?

How would the thermostat affect it? cuz i did just put a new radiator in and my buddy said i should prob replace the thermostat too, as it has been sticking a little.

it is reading incorrect temp, so you are getting the wrong a/f mixture - to rich/to lean

am looking on napa's website and they have aboot 10 different thermostats listed for my vehicle is there a certain one i should be looking to get? or does it not really matter? sorry aboot all the stupid questions but i have never dealt with a thermostat before.
