FUEL Octane Level u use ... SURVEY!!!

i would like to know whick octane level u put in your MP3 ....87 , 89 , 91, 94 or even 96 where its available....

I USE 91 ...

esso in my areas has the premium for 2c more than the reg on thursdays
guess who fills up on thursdays LIKE CLOCKWORK. if I could I'd fill a tanker truck, specially now that it's 68c/L for premium. w00t!

I only use 93 octane. I'd use 91 if it were available but it isn't where I am.

Didn't anyone read the article in Car and Driver. I was going to put premium in the car but the data seems to show that it is not required.

Our engine has a knock sensor in it, so the octane of the gas should not make a difference. Based on this article it seems like a waste of money when the sticker calls for regular.

I normally use 93 octane... Filled up with 100 octane a few days ago to see if I could notice the difference, but I didn't (not that I could afford to do that on the regular anyway...)

Mani, if you look in the manual, it actually recomends that we use 91 or higher... I read the article in C&D too, and although it shows that in general the octane doesn't make much difference in terms of performance, I think running a higher octane is probably better for your engine long term... Just a thought...

I never thought that there was a difference between octanes until I accidentally filled my motorcycle with 87 octane. The bike would not rev higher that 6000 rpm (13,000 redline). The bike sputtered and backfired like crazy, I thought I broke something until I filled it back up with 91 and everthing was better.

Just a thought.

Now, how that rates to the Mp3 I don't know, but I now know there is a difference.

If you look in the owner's manual, it says that the 2.0l engine requires 91 octane. Don't remember the page number, sorry

Mine says "Premium Recomened" right on the fuel door. so that is why i use 93 octane. Doesn't everyones say that???
