Has anyone out there done a fuel filter service on a Mazda 3s? My baby has had problems starting and is now hesitating under acceleration. I think it is the Fuel Filter as I have 48,000 on the odo now and it has not yet been changed. I would love to change it myself, but I don't know how, and am not sure where to get the part from.

A little help would be greatly appreciated.

wow thats lame.... no way in hell would i take that one by myself then... damn engineers!!

I asked this question at another forum a few months back. It turns out the fuel filter is inside the fuel tank.

That's probably just the strainer to keep big chunks from going into the electric pump. There still should be another filter between the pump and the fuel rail. I'll find out and report back.

Welp... good news, bad news.

Good: There are two filters.

Bad: They are both inside the fuel tank as integral parts of the "Fuel Pump Unit" and cannot be serviced separately. Same with the pressure regulator.

Good: Changing the filter isn't even on the maintenance schedule, so it's not really a big deal.
