Fuel Filter Change

If you wanna do a flow check just let the pump run and collect the gas in a container. Time it for one minute and then measure how much gas came out.

gas/time = flowrate

I know how to measure the flow rate.

But where and what fuel line house should I yank or do it right off the pump?

My question was more abotu the injector cleaning.

you can buy jsut the sock. I worked in auto parts for years and i double checked before i thought about doing it.

Remove at the rail inlet if possible so that a collapsed or pinched line is found as well.

Our P5 needed a new tank screen at like 50,000 miles. My wife must have gotten gas at some shady station. The thing was totally brown and when I pulled the fuel pump assembly out of the tank, it took a good minute or two for the fuel to drip out of the sock -- now THAT'S clogged!

You'll know when the sock starts clogging. When idling with less than 1/8 a tank of fuel, you'll start to drops in RPMs. It might stall. You'll feel a power loss all over the RPM range too. It will probably throw a misfire CEL.

If you are ever taking the fuel pump out, be VERY CAREFUL with the 8 screws. They are very soft brass and they strip very easily. They take a bigger screwdriver than you might think.

so for the past month or so....if i would lug my engine a little or be under 2k rpm and go to wot my car would go to take off but cut out or stutter. it would do it a couple times quickly then the rpms would rise and it would stop. ive been telling myself to do the plugs but have been lazy because they arent very old and i just replaced the wires not too long ago so i knew it wasnt that. so i ordered a new fuel filter sock thing ($20) and installed it and the problem no longer exists. the power in smoother now too. i would recommend everyone to do this. i was told the socks last and dont need to be changed but i disagree. my car has 120,xxx miles on it. i just followed the write up grindmarc has in his post. just my two cents
