Hey man, right on, I know there is an ES-GT. I wasn't doubting that at all. Can you take a quick picture of the back of the car? I'm just curious of the badging. Please?

I dont have a way of blacking out the license plate. The rear badge seems to be a stick on GTR badge, similar to the skyline. When it was new it looked good, now it looks worn down. That is why I didn't post it as a GTR just a GT. I dont believe the salesman when he said that badge was from the factory. The rest after finding the build sticker, I do.

Okay, from the build sticker, here's the skinny on your car:

It's a stock ES-GT. It is not a Mazda factory special edition. It has the field for it on the build sticker, (all protege's do) but there's nothing entered there. The factory "special editions" for Canada had factory leather, a leather wrapped wheel, and high polished wheels, and were a very late 2003.5 model year addition. Also, I believe they were all black, but I may be mistaken about that.

The previous owner added the intake, and swapped in the seats from an MP3. The "GT-R" badge can be bought from Canadian Tire for like $14 I think.

I'm not trying to slander in any way, but just to give you the right information, so when you do sell it you give the buyer the correct info. For the most money for it, definitly remove the GT-R badge cause it's rice, and you might wanna consider taking the intake off as well. I have a spare factory one if you need to put it back to stock. We can meet up for it or something...

Alright, thats what I thought. The GTR badge wasn't factory. The only "GTR" Mazda ever made was the 323. There have been several ES-GT's on this forum before, although I'm not sure what is included with said trim. Good luck selling it, although keep in mind that if you wish to post it on this forum you need to abide by the rules.

I sent him a pm with a link. Thanks to maxxmazda for clarifying the vehicle, anyone else posting garbage please stop, and wheelz take care of the signage pics.

Those were my thoughts when we bought it from the dealership, but the sales guy assured me I was wrong, he sold the car new to the original owner as well.

As for NZ I cannot find it anywhere on the build code.

In the picture you can see at the ride side it says 2.0 Special Edition. The interior code says BN4.

As for shutting down the thread, if a mod wants to wouldn't mind. I posted on here to sell, and I seem to be doing is defending the car. I enjoyed going to the meets from this web board, the members seemed nice. But right now I just don't understand the hostility. I'm not trying to rip anyone off. The price is fair, for around Calgary AB, even if the car was not a special edition.

learn how to read the label! if there's nothing below "special edition", it means nothing
"special edition" is just a heading... look at the other ones such as "trim type"... mine says exactly the same thing

either you don't know anything about this car or you're full of s***... I'm more inclined to think the latter
the "GTR" badge is NOT factory, and the short ram intake is NOT factory... mazda NEVER offered such items, PERIOD. there was NO regular protege sold ANYWHERE in north america with that interior

I tell you what, you post the VIN here and I'll run it and we'll know who's right
I have my doubts you will though

EDIT: stupid me, I was in a hurry replying and I completely forgot that label has the VIN also... note to self, don't read the forums at work :o

You realize the vin is listed at the bottom right of that sticker right?

The VIN is on the build tag... (nana)

Thanks for the info. I was just going with what I was told by the dealer. It may have been a Kramer mazda dealer edition then. I have in fact seen another one, it was the protege5 same intake, same badge, same interior. Bought from Kramer as well. Anybody know how to decifer the interior codes? It isn't NZ liked stated before but BN4, what does that mean?

As for the badge being rice, I totally agree, thats why I never claimed it was a GTR, but the girlfriend likes it, so it stays on the car until it sells.

oops... was in a hurry in replying... completely forgot that the label has the VIN on it! (screwy)

Maxx, thanks for providing some actual useful information.

Regardless of the car's actual path to get the MP3 seats, it is what it is and looks like it's in good shape, and is definitely an ES GT, as marketed in Canada.

The asking price seems spot on for the area either. Look on Canadatrader.com as wheelz suggested.

Good luck with the sale.

Dale.

Look at TheMAN's post count and mine, and then our join dates. I guess I don't spend quite as much time on the forum.....(boom02)

Ya, the asking price is right on, I hope you sell it. For get the NZ thing, I was thinking somthign else at the time. BN4 is correct, and means it originally came with the standard ES seats.
