Front Right Suspension Crunching

I also complained about the suspension crunch and the TSB was done. The crunching noise was gone for a while but as soon as the next cold spell comes here we go again but this time only the front.

As the starter of this thread and the 1st 5 owner in ohio and now an owner of a 2nd 5 I can honestly say that the suspension issue is..........still.... an issue.
Sooo...someone with bigger bawls please feel free to make some noise and get this resolved.

My 5 is an '06 with 21k miles, I just (yesterday) had it "fixed" for the third time and it still makes noise. They replaced everyting but the struts. This is getting kinda frustrating.

my crunch only does it when the temp drops below 30 degrees F, and it only does it for the first 2 or 3 bumps.

(bicker)
S&^%... i only have maybe 1500 miles on thne suspension pieces that they replaced and im getting the noise back.. its going back in for them to check the other have that they didnt replace.. + condensation in the side marker light taillights... engine stumbs TSB... List is getting long for a FORD product (crazy)LOL

Was the issue addressed for the '08's? I'd love to know if a permanent fix was found for the revamped 5.

I have to admit I'm curious as well. On today's "Fifth Gear" (yeah I DL the torrent since I'm not in the UK) they reviewed the 2008 Mazda5 and said the suspension was revised for this model year. I wonder if that is accurate, if it has anything to do with this issue, and if it is also true for US models.

That being said...I have had a lot of cars that end up with issues like this after tearing apart the suspension a few times, often from getting sand/dirt into strut-hat bearings or other suspension bushings. Lithium grease has always been my friend. If my '08 starts doing anything like this....I might just skip the stupid dealer. They tend to f#(k up cars more than they fix them.

Live in PA and haven't had a crunch issue (06 and 08) yet (smash). There is some crunching coming from the dashboard during very cold days on rough roads (again, both cars), but my old Honda Civic did it as well (and that thing's suspension squeaked like crazy on cold days)

Getting off-topic but the same as jeebusm3, after I read about the freezing sliding doors latches recall I started a yearly treatment of lithium grease instead of taking it to the dealer and haven't had the problem. (dunno) I don't like the dealer to take things apart unless they are really broken.

Mine's crunching again too!

I'm at 36,000kms now and mine starting crunching again recently. I've had the service "fix" a few times that was recommended by Mazda before the replacement bushings were issued. The new bushings lasted about 15,000kms before the noise started up again. I have an appointment to have them replaced again next week.

Although dealerships don't like replacing parts over and over again, insists that they do something. That's the only way Mazda can track that the problem still exists. If you let it slide, their quality control monitoring thinks the problem is resolved.

Anyone with an '08 experiencing these sounds??

The dealer replaced the struts this time so the entire front suspension is brand new. Still makes noise. Thinking of selling this car and buying something other than a Mazda. Don't really want to do that as there are so few wagons/small vans but it seems like Mazda just can't fix this problem.

that's what we did when our Mazda3 was at the dealer 10 times for a stupid CEL related to the evap system...that they could never seem to fix.

Just dumped that sucker.

I figured 4 years worth of platform alterations and 2 years worth of Mazda5-specific stuff would be enough for a reliable Mazda5. WE SHALL SEE haha.

A few weeks ago I experiences the freezing door lock syndrome but only on one door. My wife took it to the dealer and it worked ( defrosted). As soon as I got home from work, I pumped all the door locks with Royal Purple Synthetic lube.

On a similar topic, my mechanic friend told me to take lithium grease and wipe it all along the door seals ( rubber) before the winter to ensure the door seals never freeze against the car during those really frigid nights. Worked like a charm this winter with all the rain, freezing rain and snow coming down within 24 hours (alright)(alright)

Well I just got my '06 Sport back from its second repair for the bushing crunch. According to the print out, they replaced all sway bar bushings, end links, two control arms & bushings, and two springs & spring-seats. It also says they filed down an arc weld somewhere.

I know I had seen a newer TSB that specified these repairs, but I can't seem to find it anywhere - does anyone have a link?

I would first like to get under the car inspect if they actually did the work. The only reason I suspect that they didn't is that when I look through the wheel wells, none of the springs look particularly new or shiny, nor can I make out any finger-smudges on any of the suspension parts.

I also have a low pitched rumble/rattle over bumps that I was hoping would go away with the suspension work, but it is unchanged from before to after the repair. It sounds like something is loose underneath, but I haven't spent any time trying to locate it.

Well, too much for the 2006 good karma. I heard a minor, yet obnoxious, squeak on the rear suspension during the weekend, which funny enough, just showed up after 10 minutes of driving and went away shortly after. A cold weather issue? Blah! :D, temperatures are in the 60s 70s now!

I'll keep an ear on it. Good thing my wife noted it until I told her, LOL...

Collected this from another forum. The bushings that are replaced during the TSB are:

CC29-34-156C (front) and C243-28-156D (rear)

As I said earlier, my Honda was squeaky on cold weather as well. I think the car materials are not NA (US and Canada) weatherproof :)

Our 2008 mazda5 has a minor rear-suspension squeak over speed-bumps (and I drive SLOOOOWWWW over them). It's been doing it since new. I might take it in sometime. I dunno. I never enjoy dealers. I'd rather just ignore it and if it gets really bad, fix it myself...cuz I actually fix things correctly.

It seems to be a re-occuring issue, that owners are having crunching, clunking noises with their Mazda 5's suspension. Because it shares the same platform as the Mazda 3, do Mazda 3 owners experience the same suspension issues?
