front motor mount

The front one you can do yourself in 10-20 minutes with the right tools.
The rear one invloves a lot of blood, sweat, tears, and time or a trip to the dealer/garage.

With the right tools and knowledge the rear can be done in about two hours. After you remove the wiring loom from the bracket that holds it you will need to remove the plastic bracket that is held in by two 10mm nuts. After you remove the bracket that holds the wiring loom in place you will be able to get to the two back nuts on the mount. You will need a rachet with a couple of long extensions and a swivel joint to get to two of the bolts on the rear mount, due to the angle you have to get to them at. Once the three nuts are taken off of the mount you can remove the threw bolt and wiggle out the old mount and manuver the new one in there and put all of it back together. This process is much easier if you take off your cold pipe, it gives you a lot more room to work in there. It is still a very tight fit though. This installation is not for the mechanically inept, I would have to say it was the hardest thing I have done to date on the speed. Even harder than installing my perrin fmic, it didn't take as long but it was harder.

Curious, how much did the dealer charge you?

Yeah, that's why I waited until I did my clutch. :)

I can't remember exactly, but it was book labour of 0.7 hours or thereabouts.
Funny story actually, a bunch of uus from toprotege.com ordered them and took turns going to different dealers for the install.
After each dealer installed one at the book rate (cheap), they swore they would not do another for that same price.
It came down to a process of elimination for Toronto dealers, one by one they wouldn't do the job for the book price.
Mine said they spent the better time of the day trying, they even had called me at lunch time and left a message saying they couldn't get the stock one off and were leaving my car the way it was.
To their credit, they only charged me what they quoted me.
This was Avante Mazda of Toronto.
Gyro did Tiwing's.
Westowne did CrazyCaker's.

Meanwhile I asked Mazda to change my front mount and they did it under warranty. The new one is much more stiff... and it's 100% free! :)
Please tell me more about this. If I can get the dealer to replace the front one under warranty then that would be cool. Does this new mount eliminate the engine bucking back and forth in bumper to bumper traffic? Does it add alot of vibration? How about axle hop? Please explain because I'll be taking the MSP into the dealer for a few other things very soon. Maybe I can add this to the list.

Well seeing as how you did not do the install yourself you have no idea how much weight is actually on the front and rear mounts. I have installed both myself and the rear is more of a pivot mount, but perhaps because it is mounted to the firewall it creates more vibration. Not to mention that the two side mounts hold the motor more than the front and rear when the car is not moving. This is easy to notice because when you install the front and rear mounts there is no need for a jack to support the motor it is held in place by the two side mounts, but those have little effect on forward and back motion while acelerating and decelerating. Front mount for decelerating and rear mount for acelerating. But I did not come in here to start a flame war so I will leave it at that. I have my opinion and you have yours.
Not trying to get into a pissing contest here, but WTF does having installed the rear yourself have anything to do with which mount causes more vibration?
I have run the car with just the front, just the rear, and both mounts in place.
If you haven't done that comparison yourself, then how the hell can you argue the point?
My suggestion, go put your front stock mount back on, and you'll see there is little to no change in vibration/noise etc.
