Front License Plate

Oh, sorry fellas I misunderstood. I thought you were referring to the front mask accessory. Anyone have one on their 3? And about the bumper, whats up with the styrofoam? Glad I got the airbag option.

styrofoam is normal on most cars...fills the space between the support beam and facia(Bumper) This is NOT RECOMMENDED to remove this to run axela front sport facia!

It is also NOT RECCOMENDED to eat the styrofoam, or any other part of the mazda3, as most of us are not used to the germs that may have came from japan. I am old(24)my M3 will stay like it is until I get her paid off, but I do dream of an extra 100 HP.

$125 to fill the holes, thast not as bad as i thought it was, and to be honest i dont drive the car much so hopefully it will take a while for the rock chips to appear. i'm going to miss my pontiac dealer, we talked him into repainting our hood 3 times do to rock chips.

for the guys in states that require front plates, just keep the plate and bracked in the trunk, if a cop pulls you over and asks about it, tell him the plate is in the trunk and your waiting on a bolt kit from the dealership to put it back on. i leave one bolt on, and say that u lost a bolt and it was hanging down. ive been pulled over 3 times. 2 times the cops never said anything about the front plate, the 3rd time he just said okay, get it on when u get the parts...

in TX is is required. So we had it put on my sisters nordic green. It doest look bad IMHO. PLus she wont get plulled over for it

haha try thta in TX

I got mine straight off the truck. I don't think they had time to put it on to begin with. I don't even have holes in the rear bumper yet. It looks soo nice with a "virgin" bumper.

Rub it in why don't ya.

I'm cool with having the plate on front of my 3s 5door as the vanity plate works well ("NYTFLY 1")

But I was wondering: is the bracket attached to the bumper with lag bolts or with hex bolts that have nuts?

THANKS!

Has to be self-tapping bolts. I don't think there is any way to get a nut to the back of that location.

yep they drill a hole with the 2 almost wood looking screws and then 2 bolts to holt the plate to bracket. I curently have the mazdaspeed holes for now...I need that plate when I go back home orelse I would have filled them in. some took pop rivets and touch up paint and that looked ok for those who don't wanna spend mone that could have went twards "worth wild" mods.

My SP23 came teh same way what I did was got the plugs used on the autometer gauge pods and some touch up paint....put the plugs in the holes and go over them with touch up paint....yeah still doesn't look great but it looks better than two raggedy holes in the bumper.

I want to buy the front license plate holder

yeah mine came that way too, its going to cost a pretty penny for the body shop to fill and paint those holes as well as the stupid holes on back for the dumb badges. on well, gotta spend my money on something.

Would any of you sell your "ugly" license plate holder... I need one and I can not find a cheap one. If you guys are not using it I will buy one :-)

Please let me know
Tks

I took mine off and I am in Texas. Had it that way for almost a year now and never had any problems. :) Most cops won't pull you over just for not having a front plate, but if they pull you over for something else they might mention it and give you a fix it ticket.

When I had my Camaro, someone hit my front bumper in a parking lot while I was inside and I had it fixed and had them not put the plate back on. I got pulled over for speeding once and they mentioned no front plate and I told them that it was like that when I bought it new and the dealer never put one on. He let me go with a warning for speeding and nothing for no front plate.

GA is a no front plate state. Unfortunately, we moved from VA which is a front plate state, so both of our cars have the brackets on 'em. Worse still is that the self-tapping screws they used created a huge "volcano" around each hole, so we can't even pull them and hope the holes just blend into the black bumper. My wife got a UGA plate for hers, I have the "no cones" plate on mine.

What drives me crazy is that the Mazda dealership here in Athens (GA) puts front plate brackets on ALL of thier new cars so they can put cheesy, cheap-looking dealer plates on the front. If I were to buy a new car from them, I'd make them order me one with the understanding that they would not drill the bumper, or I would not buy the car.

I removed my front license plate and put a Japanese style plate. It is made out of moldable aluminum. I put double sided tape on it, and I've got to say it looks pretty damn sweet, I've gotten a lot of compliments on it.

Better yet, make them either replace the front bumper or give you $50 per month advertising fee. (thumb)

Finally took mine off after two years and mounted it w/suction cups on the windshield.
All I did was push the distorted plastic left by the screw holes back in to the cover and using the free bottle of touch-up paint painted over them using several coats. Up close, yeah, you can tell, but it doesn't look bad. Best of all, it only cost me a little bit of time!!
