Front grill Question!

Hey guys,
I really really like the front hood grill like the kenstyle unit that doesn't have the mazda logo on it. I noticed that it's for a 3sedan and the 5door has an entirely different hood and don't think it fits. I think I remember seeing/hearing some stuff about j-spec versions of this for the 5door. Anyways my question is WHERE can I get one that FITS the 5door hood.

Any help would be mucho appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Rock

nice idea, but I don't want the mazda emblem on the front of the grill, I want it clean and debadged.

*sigh* I might end up having to do a hackjob on a extra set if I can get hold of them.

Neither do I.

I would like the clean look but as you pointed out, most of the applications out are for the sedan. The ones avaiable for the 5DR require a new front bumper  I just wish somebody would come out with a damm grill for this car. It is the only displeasing thing about this car (IMHO).

Tim

I like the grill actually, but the kenstyle does look good. I definately don't think that the stock 3S one is bad though.

It's not bad at all. Looks really nice, but it makes the car look a little too boxy IMHO. Plus I'd think it would look ten times better without the mazda emblem, kinda distracts attention away from the curves/stance of the vehicle.
Plus a debadged 5s would look soooooooo menacing and sexy! I didn't bother putting the 2.3 badge on the sides and I'll probably take off the 3 badge on the back of the hatch this weekend when I finally do the resonator delete.

It's not that it looks bad but...

...I have the white and there is ALOT of white on the front of the car. I just want something to break up all the white and I am NOT putting a bra on my car (the cheapest and stupidest thing one could do to "break up" the white).

Danny, your car has a quick fix for the grill, a new bolt-on type. The hatches have a diffrent setup so changing the grill requires a new front bumper. Kind of sucks but I do like the overall lines of the hatch better.

Ummm don't think you'd have to replace the front bumper for a diff grill.
If you lift up the hood and look at the grill itself, it's held in place by 4-6 bolt/screw thingies. It'd be an extremely easy mod to do IMHO. I might actually get my friend who does all kinds of body work/molding to make a fiberglass mold of the front one and make a custom grill. the hardest part would be finding that grill mesh similar to the one on the bumper.

Unless...

...you plan to mod the existing grill. The grill has 3 tiers to it. The top 2 are attached to the bolt-on piece (which I removed 4-5 times already) the bottom tier is molded into the front bumper. The only way you could get around changing the front bumper is if you modded the existing grill.

I see what you are saying, but if you look at it from a distance, that bottom tier is actually part of the perimeter piece, I want to get rid of the two tiers on the hood.
Was reading through this forum and ran across this 5dr kit:

I'm not really much of a bodykit guy but I love the grill!

If you notice the front bumper on thar car is diffrent, ie. new. That is a really nice front end though. I had seen that one before. I will look for other examples.

Ah Ok, I see what you are saying.
That grill is a FULL single piece part of the hood.
arg!
Hmmm gonna have to talk to my buddy this week-end and see if I can get him to make me one.

Let me know what he says...

...If he wants to make 2. :)

hehe I'll see what I can do, I know he'll do it if I buy him some beer and pizza and pay for the supplies.

Thanx Manny,

That is a nice grill. I wonder if I should just get a whole new nose?

Rock,

Tell him I will double the beer and pie order. j/k

I see him tommorrow, I'll try to get some pictures of his work, He's REALLY GOOD. He's done my best friend's front bumper for his saturn. it's a buddyclub2 bumper for the acura TL I think. he molded it onto a top portion of a saturn L series bumper. Looks awesome as hell. He's done the hood/bumper for a pontiac grandam as well as all the stuff on his civic!

I'll see if I can bribe him into making 2 though. may take him about 2months or so as he is VERY VERY meticulous and doing other projects too.
Wish me luck!!!!

BTW that JDM grill is pimpin'!
Is that a mazdaspeed A-spec 3S 5dr?
