FREE MPI help!

No problem... Yes I am still N/A, the turbo goes in during my spring break... I dont remember off hand right now how those two wires are set up, but I followed everything on the instructions I got off of here, except for the switch on the gray MPI wire, which I just grounded for now.

So how do I change from MAF to O2??
Do I need a wideband for that?

I called Nick, and he asked me to send him a data log... haven't heard back froom him yet... I assume he's expecting me to call, but I havent had time this week.

If you used the instructions off here, then you are setup for MAF tuning. Do you have an analog out voltage at idle that's around 2.08v? If there is no reading on that then you should be setup for O2 tuning. I would call Nick and talk about the wiring you have and make sure you are setup right.

This is how I have #88 and #60 wires hooked up right now:

  • Step 3: Find and cut the PCM light green w/black #88 wire. [This is the MAF signal wire]
  • Step 4: Install the MPI Tuner wires blue #6, green/yellow #11, black/white #10 and the green Turbo Module wire to the PCM light green w/black #88 wire that is coming in from the engine side.
  • Step 5: Install the MPI Tuner wire violet #18 to the PCM side of the light green w/black #88 wire.
  • Step 13: Find and cut the pink/blue #60 PCM wire. [This is the O2 sensor output wire for the upstream Oxygen sensor wire] Install the MPI Tuner black/brown #22 wire and one of the white O2 clamp
wires to this wire at the engine side. Install the other white O2 clamp wire to the PCM side of the pink/blue #60.

Now how do I need to change this to be tunning through the O2 sensor???

i got a question about the install of the mpi how do you find the pin numbers on the wiring harness or do you just look for colors and stripes

Can anyone tell me how to wire up the MPI for O2 tunning??
If I cant get the info tonight I have to remove it from the car and reconect the wiring to the ECU. I'd rather not do that.
Please... Anyone?

Ok so I read that whole thread and I'm still a lil confused as to whether I can keep this set up for when I go turbo at 6psi without having to use extra injectors??? Will this new set up allow me to tune the stock injectors for more fuel? Or do I need to rewire the turbo module when the turbo goes in?

Ok the new wiring for O2 tunning didnt work either... so I removed the MPI and rewired the ECU and the engine is still running like crap!!
No power, I can barely drive. I have a flashing CEL and a really funky smell.
It might even be running on 2 cylinders.
WTF is going on?!?!?!???

Huhf. I gave up on my MPi. Just couldn't get it to work properly. Kept causing high rpm ignition cut, no matter if I used the N/A module or not. I have it cut out, now, and it's sitting on my desk, my poor stock wiring harness *****, but repaired. =) It's not pretty, but at least it runs. Albiet, untuned, with crazy compression and whatnot. I'll be stepping back to my original plan of the Microtech, I think, alas. Bleh.

Well I cant write off the MPI just yet since I did have a melted coil... But I'll wait untill I install the turbo to reinstall the MPI. It should work ok then. If not, I'll do the same and get a Microtech or Haltech.

Make sure you have the power to the TM hooked up to the fuel pump wire under the console so you don't fry any coils.

Yeah I def tripple checked that... But I still ended up frying a coil.(smash)

what is the #60 wire actually do(02 upstream or something) i just found out that mine has been cut and a wire nut is on it??? quick info please my car is tore apart :)

60 is your primary O2's signale wire to the ECU. Someone must have had a narrow band gauge on it if it's been cut. You don't want this connection to come loose on you or your car won't run for s***.

Finally got around to hooking up the extra injectors on my setup. I am doing maf tuning with the mpi. Went our to tune the car and it ran ok. Pulled over and put teh fuse in to activate the extra injectors. After doing so, the car appeared to fuel cut and buck throughout the rpm range. On the fuel injection F2 map, it is all zeros and no fuel is being added. WTF IS GOING?! After the bucking, i pulled over, pulled the fuse to the injectors, and the bucking and fuel cut went away. WTF!? And it is wired up correctly, i do not need injector cleaner, and im only boosting 7 psi. Its hot here in texas so the weather is not causing fuel cut.
