LOL. It looks nothing like a coyote!
oh really? hmmm....well i got one out in my pasture. haven't shot him yet. i'll go do that and take a picture for you. you might see a resemblance or two. oh...the one in this thread is missing some tale. that might be your confusion.

edit: never mind about the tale. just watched the vid. that one pic made it look like he got no tale. but that is for sure a coyote.

I hunt plenty of coyotes here in the north woods of Wisconsin, and this thing looks nothing like a coyote (even a coyote with a bad case of mange). Look at the ears, and lack of a pointed nose. It pretty obvious that is is not a coyote, otherwise it would have already been identified as a coyote by the people who have actually examined it.

I personally think it looks like an aardwolf, or a very small hyena with ALOT of hair loss. It wouldn't surprise me at all if someone purchased a hyena as an exotic pet, decided they couldn't take care of it, and just let it go.

that is what I have always assumed. It looks like a starving Hyena.

Is this the animal you think is a coyote, because I might be inclined to agree with you on this creature. This is the animal that was shot in Texas and I know for a fact that there are a shitload of coyotes in Texas. This one looks like a coyote with a complete lack of hair:

well coyotes don't look the same all over the world. granted it looks like hyena. maybe cross breed with dog and coyot. non the less. i have one left out of a large pack on my land here in TX. it looks just like the one in the vid. i know for a fact that mine is a coyote. I'll see if I can get a vid of mine and show you the resemblance. mine is not manged out as bad as that one. mine still has most of his hair but has lost a lot also.

side story: i think ours is rabid cause he tried to eat my wife. she was going to work one morning at about 4.30 am. she saw him under a tree. he started moving toward her. so she went faster as did he and she jumped in the pasanger side just before he got to her. i think he wanted her penut butter toast and milk.

i wouldnt be surprised if it was some sort of hyena/fox/coyote mix. people illegally import all kinds of exotic animals then realize, duh, it isnt domesticated and let it go into the wild.

i once saw a huge macaw (parrot) sitting on a telephone wire around here. im sure it died once it got cold.
