Forge BOV

so the forge bov is a direct replacement of where the stock BVP? I know that there is little bit of stalling issue, but just want to know about the comperssor surge. Will the compessor surge problem still going to be an issue for this BOV?? Because I want to get a FMIC kit, but I don't want to put a BOV/BVP set on my hardpipe, coz then If I need to take the car back for warrenty I can't take the BOV out. Which they will gonna void my warrenty if they see that I have BOV in my car. I want to know is there a compresser surge issue that the air will flow back to the Turbo, and mess up my Turbo for this BOV kit??
The forge kit is make for stock pipes. There is a debate whether the turkey is compressure surge or not. I really don't know. We don't have much boost so I don't really see how it could be compressure surge with all the different BOV that have been tried on the MSP. The warranty issues is a completely different story. That really depends on you dealership. You'd really have to check with them. Some are ok with some mod, some preform a warranty voiding check before every service.

mSHOCKERp: Where in MD is the shop where you got the BOV? Was it Pro-Imports in Gaithersburg? thanks!

You can the BPV right now from forge. Direct replacement. I talked with Tom today, very nice guy, and just as I have been saying ...

It's not compressure surge. Tom has also confirmed it, just as most of the cars guys did here at work.

I've talked to some car guys and they dont think its compressor surge either. They say compressor surge sounds diffrent like a lower tone or something. But its very debatable. I've seen the debate on this site and I still do not know what to think. If it is compressor surge im pissed taht MAzda would realease the speed with it! I just know there are alot of high performace cars with the same sound (i.e. Veilside Supra)

Stalling...out of the three local guys who are testing the BOV for about a month or so...no complaints about stalling. Cory said he stalled once but he was going 130mph shifting into neutral. 03speed is the guy to talk to if you want to know how the BOV is when its being pushed to its limit.

So those guys have the BOV NOT the BPV ....correct?
I'm trying to decide on which to get.

which one is better, performancewise, for the MSP? if the BPV is recommended to get, why test the BOV?

Its going to be preference at this point. The BPV/BOV aparently does not get rid of the turkey nor does the regular bpv. Basically your going to get a more reliable product that is better than your existing plastic crap.

ohok, i guess ill get the BPV since it just replaces the stock one. thanks. one more thing, can someone give me the direct link to it? there are so many links to the forge website on this thread, im not sure which one will actually fit the car. THANKS!

Ryan (black Majik) actually tested the BPV a long time ago. Hes was the one who brought the MSP to a local european car club meet and met the Forge guys. So Forge has a BPV taht works if you read the 1st few pages. Call tom if you want the part #...its the BPV with 19mm fitting. Cory, Scott and Andre are testing out the BOV. I dont have any clue which on is better. But people often complain about not venting into the atmo. What I heard on the forum was that people wanted a BOV that would not stall the car (and not having to run the BPV/BOV setup). Most BOV are not recirculating. So the 2 piston BOV works great and it works with stock pipes which is a plus. The BPV uis just a upgrade...better then the plastic crap we have on our car. Some peopl say they have coolant leaks from taht area.

I dont really know the benifits. Mayybe someone can shine some light on the benifits of running a BOV as oppose to theBPV.

Oh Forge also wants to make some silicon hoses for the speed. But no one has stock pipes they can donate. If anyone can help out that would be cool.

this one is for you guys that dont have to have the external venting.

I spoke to forge about 1-2 weeks ago and they said they are working on a BPV that will fit in the stock location and look alot like this

http://www.forgemotorsport.com/valves.asp?cat=tun&product=FMDVS013B

as you can see in the quote, it says that it will "look alot like this." does this mean it only looks like it or is the actual part? sorry if im being too demanding, just want to make sure i order the right part...

They actually have both the BPV and BOV in stock. THE BOV need to fitted with silicone connectors and thats the only thing they are waiting for.

here is a quote from Forge fomr earlier post in this thread:

Most of the time the "turkey" sound, as you all call it, is wastegate flutter. This flutter becomes more apparent with additions such as boost controllers. A CAI or BOV (Vent to Atmosphere) project the sound much more.

There are currently two models of valves, BPV and BOV. The blow off valve is our DV004 which uses twin pistons to eliminate idle issues. We are making silicone transitions, 25mm-19mm, to incorporate this valve into the factory plumbing. The Forge recirculating valve (BPV) upgrade will bolt directly into the factory hoses and not need any extra hoses as it is manufactured with 19mm ports. We will have pricing and part numbers available over the next few days for those interested.

We are working on a Silicone hose upgrade kit for the intercooler piping and intake hose. Stay tuned for this also.

not sure call them or email them...they are really cool and can answer all your questions.

ill do just that, thanks for all the info!

I dont understand how 505zoom was able to get rid of the turkey if it is wastegate flutter and not compressur surge? I know this has been beaten to death but I am just getting confused all over again with Forge's statement above.
