Ford Mustang vs. Chevrolet Camaro: Which is winning?

Which one is on top, Ford Mustang or Chevrolet Camaro?

For months, the two have duked it out, both on the sales floor and in a blizzard of press releases. When Ford held a press drive for the 2011 Mustang a couple months ago, they made sure they had a showroom-fresh Camaro on hand so they could point out what they consider its shortcomings (small trucks, limited driver visibility, for starters).

So out come the monthly sales figures last month and the war starts anew. Mustang outsold Camaro, 10,225 to 8,931. But wait!
General Motors fielded a press release heralding Camaro's outselling its "closest competitor" -- hmm, any guesses of what that could be? -- by 20,000 units in its first full year of sales.

And Chrissie Thompson, blogging in Automotive News, issued an apology of sorts for being too quick to hand the monthly sales tally to Mustang:

That's weird, it seems like I've seen more Camaro's in my area than Mustang's. Either way, they are both extremely common where I live.

Everything I've read suggests the 2011 Mustang is wiping the floor with the Camaro. I'd love to go test drive a V6.

I actually see more mustangs than camaro..but it might be since the mustang have been out for a while and the camaro just came out last year.

i see alot more of the 10/11 mustangs than i do the camaros...you can tell the 10/11 mustangs by the nose and the tail lights...I see probably 5-6 mustangs for every camaro here in cincinnati. Lots of chicks and 50 year olds in mustangs lots of 20 somethings in camaros

the new mustangs are so nice and 2011s are taking the muscle car race to the next level, chevy is going to have to answer back if they want the camaro to come out on top

mustangs never did sell well here. I do see some camaro's though.

The Mustang is the better car IMO. I had the opportunity to drive a Camaro at the GM Proving Grounds on an autocross course, and it really left me with a bad taste in my mouth. The Mustang, on the other hand, is a much more nimble, refined car, despite the "inferior" technology in the suspension.

Right now, the order is Mustang/Challenger/Camaro in terms of living with one every day.

Everytime I see a Camaro now I can't help but sing the old Transformers song !

I like the look of a Camaro SS. I like how it's different. Hate the Mustang up until 2011 but now it's a better overall look and package. I think I'd go Mustang myself.

It's about time that Ford brought back the 5.0L to the Mustang and added about 100 hp's. Motortrend's dyno actually show's 435hp at the fly comapred to the posted hp of 412.

Mustangs do have the edge this time.
