So I just got off the phone with talking to the dealer that i purchased my car with last wednesday. I asked them how much it would be a MazdaSpeed CAI. They told me it was:

$338 - cai
$140 - labor

Does this sound right? i swear i thought i read somewhere that it was free to get it installed by the dealer if you buy the mazdaspeed product but who knows i could be wrong. please chime in with some info. would be greatly appreciated.

It's cheaper if you get it from the vendors on here. It also is a simple job done with basic tools. You could probably find someone on here to do it a lot cheaper if you dont want to. But if you pay for the dealer to install it, they cant come back with installation error claims.

ProtegeGarage has it for $309 shipped.

Just install it yourself, it only takes about an hour. Dealer labor rates are always outrageous. ProtegeGarage said they could do it in under an hour for about $75 or so.

Problem is that the instructions say to remove the bumper -- you don't have to. Remove the wheel and fender liner/splash guard. The dealers don't necessarily do it that way, hence the price difference.

where are you located?I would try to have another member help you or a friend.Dont pay them $140 to install it unless you have money to blow and dont care. Its a very easy install and it will give you some good guilty time with you new baby.

Like everyone else has mentioned, it's not a difficult install at all if you have any experience with cars. I did mine in about 2 hours with hand tools. I say 2 hours because I took my time, stopped for phone calls, got a drink, etc. If I was not interupted, I could have been done in an hour.

Was not free for me. sounds about the same. Do it yourself though, instructions are reasonable and it's quality time spent with your Speed

If you want your warranty I suggest you pay the dealer that is unless you know someone at the dealership that can look the other way if something happens.
