Hey everyone I've decided to sell my Turbo kit in route of a different form of performance. My turbo is going to need a rebuild but the rest of the kit is in great shape. A loud schreaching sound came from my turbo today so i think my turbine wheel shattered cause its getting oil and the fins spin freely. Well anyways. THe kit includes a Blitz turbo timer brand new just installed as well as a Blitz SSBC boost controller. THe turbo, manifold, downpipe, oil lines, fittings, water lines, non-intercooled piping as well as TurboXS type S BOV, modified Starion intercooler so that pipes run from same direction of the car. Also includes FMU, Check Valves, Boost gauge and all nessicary fittings. I am sellilng it all for 900 dollars. Like I said you will either have to get my turbo rebuilt or get another one off a 2nd Gen eclipse. Those can be picked up for around 225 off ebay regularly. The only fabrication needed in teh kit to get it on your car will be to weld the downpipe to the exhaust. Let me know if any of you are interested or have any questions.

Hey what's happening Craig!!!

What form of performance are you looking for??? You want to install a V8 in your Protege?

I am wondering why all the turbo guys are changing there minds about turbo's. This is annyoing me, because I almost have my custom turbo kit together for my MP3. So is the forced induction route a bad idea. Is it hard to have forced induction, on a daily driven Protege???? My only problem so far is the cpu, I still haven't decided what to do with that. I really don't want to go the piggy back route. That seemes like it would be more of a head ache. Let us know what's the deal, please.

Here is the deal. I dont know about CH but I like trying and doing new things. It is exciting to do something nobody has everdone. I just wanted to try something new, and thats why I am tring to sell my system. As of now I love the way it has performed Flawless!!! I have had one major problem (check valves), but aside from that it has been operating smoothly. Make sure you buy NEW and good quality stuff and you should be fine. If you are going custom, buy or make a manifold that is tuff and wont crack. Bead intercooler pipes so they dont blow off during boost. Have all the proper monitoring equipment so you can monitor your engines vital statistics and adjust accordingly. And use heatshield where needed. What I am trying to say here is that dont go half ass, because you will pay the consequences in the end. And take the extra time to maintain the turbo sytem(ie oil changes, checking lines ect.) Once you covered all the bases you shoud be very happy with your system. Remember this is not for everybody, if you are not willimg to put forth the extra effort in the maintanace and piecing the sytem properly, maybe you should reevaluate your choices.;)

I am looking at running 8psi. What is the most PSI you ran with your system, I heard you had 230 whp. Thats nice, all that I want is 210 at the wheel, I think this is possible. My problem is I need to retard the timing, increase the flow of fuel, and get bigger injecters. How much is all this going to cost. I have almost everything together. The fuel and timing is what has me at a stand still. :(

I did make that power at 12psi, and race fuel (110) to be safe. But that is not what I drive daily. I run 8psi(thats the lowest I can set my wastegate because of the 3inch exst and no cats). Actually I like 8psi better. The car feels extremely strong but not overkill........like I am not breaking something everytime I drive it, and I can actually get some type of traction:D

As for fuel and timing I would highly reccomend running a standalone like a haltech (check for a dealer in the alabama area that can install). If you insist on something else I would run a injector controller, but run 4 injectors in the intake manifold to get a even distrubution of fuel and better fuel atomizing properties. Then get a J&S knock sensor and controller. This way you have control over any detonation and can run the stock timing and will have extra fuel. Check with SDS and see what type of injectors work with there setup(ie low or high impedance) and maybe you can buy some junkyard injectors like possibly off of a new mazda milenia s or something like it for a very minimal price.;)

Also what are you going to use your car for? Autocross? Dragracing? Circuit? or Just street driving?
I would only suggest a t28 for autocrossing. For anything else I would not use it. Its just not efficient for our combo. Rememver not all boost is created equal:D
8psi on a t28 will not feel like 8psi on a t88. I know this is opposite ends of the spectrum here but just trying to illustrate my point. If you do go with a t28 make sure its not a junkyard special unless you can get one off of a jdm silvia. Try to get it with 60-62 trim compressor wheel and .86 a/r exhaust housing. But might as well go with a t3 or mitsu BIG 16g tdo5h. Anyways just my 2 cents

From what I can see on the board, we are 3 guys right now runing turbo on Protege and the 3 of us have different setup.

Spoolin run it with a stand alone managment system,

Chdesign run it with an FMU,

and I run it with stock injectors with 2 extras injectors and a SDS controller.

I can't speak for the other but my car is realy running fine with the setup I have and nothing can make me move to something else. In my case right now I use my car only for street driving but maybe I'll try some autocross and drag racing one day. I didn't run it on a dyno yet because I'm still waiting for my clutch. But as soon as I got my clutch installed, I'll schedule some dyno runs.

I run it at 8 psi with a full 2 1/2 exhaust with no cat and a high flow bullet muffler and Sebring catback. So I don't have any exhaust restriction. I can tell you that this setup feel extremely strong. The car is pulling hard from 3000 to 6500 rpm.

I think the setup of stock injectors with extras injectors and controller give my car a very good runing either on boost or not. I do lot of city driving and the car can run and idle smoothly as well as pulling very hard on boost. Until now it is flawless.

The only thing I'll add when I'll get the money, it's a turbo timer and a timing retarding unit.

Thats my opinon! ;)

OK i'm not leaving turbo cause i don't like it I love it but I had a CTF Catastrophic turbo failure. My turbine wheel shattered. I dont' have the cash to get another turbo so I'm sellign the kit and using the money from it to go NA as is high compression all motor. Don't worry though it will be in the 14 second 1/4 mile range easy once i get through with it.

3000 to 65000 rpm.....Sheesh Stou...thats one hell of an rpm range...I believe even F1 cars top out after 18-20,000 rpm...thats amazing!

LOL...Seriously though...glad to hear your turbo MP3 is healthy Stou.

Great thread...I was thinking the same thing...when I read chdesign was selling too...but now after reading this thread it makes sense...

You turbo guys are dispensing so much awesome info here...please don't stop...even though you guys maybe straying from the world of F/I a bit...I hope you will continue to fill this site with great tech info! :D

To tell you the truth, I never knew anything about a turbo until about 4 months ago. All I knew was that they somehow pushed more air into the intake. But since I've decided to go with F/I, I've been doing a lot of reading and learning. And now I feel that I know a pretty fair amount about turbos. I only know a little more than the average person about engines also. I'm not sure what the average person knows though. I don't think I could replace pistons or anything, but give me a manual and I guarantee you I coul get it done. I learn very fast. So I believe that if I could put together a F/I system, a lot of people could. It just take a LOT of time, and a LOT of money. If you dont have a credit card with at least $4000 on it, dont even try it. But I am so freaking excited that I am about to be in the very rare club of tubo mp3's.

There is nothing more satisfying than customizing a system. When you know that you did it and you made sure that everything that went into it was top notch quality stuff that a kit will never have. (have you ever seen the intercoolers and charge piping on a flyin miata kit:rolleyes: ) And how about the manifolds. Archiac log type contraptions that have minimal flow capabilities.
I cant wait to see Big Ben boostin!:D With that nice tubular manifold;)

OK everyone my turbo is gone fairwell goodbye. Found out my turbine was fine but i didn't blow out a bearing adn blew oil into my motor for a week so now its gummed up past belief and it bogs but its getting better.....nothing a few tanks of fuel system cleaner won't fix lol.
