Foogin Rocks

:
03 MP5 / 92 TSI AWD
I have already gotten 2 stone chips on my windsheild (3300k on the car). I don't drive on gravel roads either. I'm wondering if anybody has the same luck. The only other stone chip I've gotten is when some mullet had to spin his rears to turn into a restaruant and flung one right at my Talon. This just pisses me off, I drive alot, and this is the only car that has really had a problem with this. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the aerodynamics.

I have the same problem. I have 7000 miles now. I got my first chip at 3500 miles and second one a few days after that. I don't know if the problem is the design of the windshield or possibly the fact that I am doing a little to much drafting on the highway.

Cheers,
Raw

i think it's bad luck! i've had my share of vehicles over the years, and replaced many windshields because of flying rocks etc. no problems with the pro yet and i've got 33,000 miles and live in the north with plenty of salt/sanded roads. it's most likely bad luck more than anything else.

almost 30,000mi- widshield looks like sandpaper-rock chips on front end through the paint like nothing. Thin paint and lots of driving in so cal will kill any car. arghhh!

I just got one this morning...my first one...windsheild is getting replaced tomorrow.

I couldn't have described my windshield better myself. It looks like it has been sandblasted. All of my other stock Mazda windshields have had the same problem.

i feel for you man...i only had my P5 for a week when my windshield was busted...but that was because some stupid kid with a slingshot was trying to be cool and launch stuff onto the freeway

This may sound cheesy but did you guys read the Protege 5 manual that came with the car. They mention safe driving distances to stay out of the "paint chipping zone". At 55 it's like 165ft. I used to drive very aggressively but now I think my paint is more important.

f*ck you winsheild. i have chips all over my front grill from rocks :(

NJ high ways are the dirtiest!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think it's Mazda related at all - I have a '94 Miata, and now have 20K on my P5, and both of my windshields could pass for new - Heck, I've had dozens of folks who thought my Miata was new!

Got the same problem!
I was wondering if it was a problem with the glass or something!
I've only got 2300 miles on it in 3 weeks and have two chips already! Luckily both are on the passenger side!
Though, I'm driving 100 miles a day - on the DC beltway!

Me 2

I've had my P5 a little over a year and with 17500 miles I have 3 chips in my windshield, the first I got 6 months in. And I don't even want to TALK about the paint on my hood, chips galore. Good thing I live in Phoenix, Arizona where it's desert dry...less chance for rust :)

damn we must have a shitload of tailgaters on this board, LOL. I have had my car for a year and 16k miles and have no noticeable dings, scratches, or chips in the windshield. the only thing scratched on my car is on the hood, right above the pass headlight by like a 1/4" and its very small. Damn bobcat on a trailer on the interstate in the fastlane doing 75 when it decides to lose a rock off the trailer. Bastards.

I'm not a tail gater. I stay away at least 4-5 cars (any further back and you get the mich a-holes that cut in front of you). I traded my truck with 100k in and it never got any chips, my 240 before that, no problems, same with the other truck before the 240.

To top it off, my passenger side fog light got clobbered (still works though:confused: )

I had gotten a Bull's-Eye about a week ago (3900k). I used "Pennzoil Fix-a-Windshield, worked pretty well.
