Fogging Inside Windows

Hi everyone. New to this forum. I just recently purchased a 2025 CX30 GS. I have a question concerning fogging up inside windows. Can anyone tell me how to keep inside windows clear and keep the heat on body and floor. I’ve tried defrost front window and it works but only puts hot air on window not on floor. My wife and I are frustrated as we live in a winter climate. Thanks to the community for your help.

Outside air (what clears the fog) is what you need. You should be able to switch that on wherever you need to clear the fog. I have to cycle it often.

This is the combination you are looking for. Just cycle the vent control until the arrow appears for floor.

My 2016.5 CX-5 lives in an area where there's solid humidity much of the year, and winter fogging of the inside of the windows is oh-so-easy to have occur.

What works for me, and I do this daily when it's "windows fogging" weather:

  • Get the windows up to reasonable temp (for the conditions), using the defost settings. Use an appropriate amount of heat for the outside temperature.
  • Change the front setting to defrost/floor, then turn down the heat sufficiently such that it's comfortable.
  • Ensure the airflow is set to outside air (not inside/recirculate).
  • If needed, occasionally boost the speed of the blower and the direction of the venting (ie, upper/doors instead of defrost/floor) if it turns out the side windows happen to be showing some fogging.
  • In weather that isn't cold and isn't hugely humid, I find that simply cracking both windows on one side of the vehicle allows for sufficient circulation of air in the cabin to keep fogging away. That outside air has a way of taking away most or all of that fogging, all without use of the AC/heater/blower.

Works quite well, in my experience. This, over 5 years of all-season handling of more-humid and colder conditions than many cope with. Did the same with a prior Mazda3, using the same basic method. Did the same with a prior non-Mazda for a dozen years in similar conditions (wintry cold, wet/humid much of the rest of the year). Works well, so long as there's airflow across the windows.
