Focus SVT

I never really care much about the Ford Focus but our Protege's resale value is just as crap as Ford Focus. I love my P5 but s*** my 03 is only worth $10k(trade in) ...i still like p5 though.

Hahah! Damn I used to own a Focus before I wrecked it, and got my MP3. Best thing to happen EVAR!!!! I had just bought a body kit for my Focus LX 4-door that had the SOHC engine (110 crank hp).

it handles like it's on rail....it'll dust any car in its class in terms of handling.....but the motor is a brick. With variable cams, dual stage intake, tuned factory headers, lightened flywheel......only 170hp. But it sounds awesome!!!!!!

problem with all of the options that the SVT had (i.e. winter package of heated everything) is that it came with a bunch of crap. the winter package added the nice stuff but also added a traction control that sucks the power right off the line. you can get a fix for it but :wtf:

focus just has too many serious issues to deal with, plus even if you beat MSPs and other cars in a straight line... they drive home they own an MSP, etc. and you still drive a focus...

lots of people love their focus and have fun it them, I just can't imagine doing it myself... :p

I agree, it is still a focus, and as far as the amenities, you're correct there as well, much more to shoose on the focus. Additionally, the aftermarket support is definitley there in all aspects. Theres soo much out there for it. Slap on a jackson Racing SC. Your're talking at least 50-80% more power w/ the right mods.
just do whut they have been doin...put a 302 in there...theres ur extra power and torque

Next year, i beleive it is something like 04.5 or early 05 the svt focus is going turbo. similar to the eurpoean focus rs. Heard in the neighborhood of 220-250 hp. Only then i might consider trading in my Beloved MSP!!!

its using the 2.3 I4 mazda motor from the Mazda3 with a turbo according to an old copy of motor trend.

Ehhhh. Wrong answer. There is not gonna be a turbo SVT Focus. In fact there probably won't be an SVT Focus after this year. Maybe in 2007 when they actually bring the C1 platform over. Besides the 2.3 engine puts the SVT to shame for around $8k less and that is becoming more widely known. Not good marketing on Fords part.

As far as all of you haters I don't get it. It is an economy car not much different from the Protege. I had my Focus for 2 years and besides some minor quality issues I loved it. I've had some quality issues already with my P5. The Focus handled incredible stock and even better with upgraded suspension. Engine was peppy. Egronomics were perfect. On top of that the aftermarket support was 100% better than the Protege which baffles me. The Focus has only been in NA for 6 years and there are numerous turbos, 3 superchargers, more body kits and components that you could ever imagine, no less then 10 different choices for headligts and almost as many for tails, 3 different types of clear side markers. I could go on and on. I don't see why there is not that much aftermarket support for the Pro, which has been around alot longer.

The svt was a consideration and is faster than the P5 we ended up with, but it also cost like 3k more and the interior was disgusting. I wasnt crazy about the looks but there is a LOT of aftermarket support for this car! I call it the american civic, which says something about the quality of american compacts :(

Well i live in ford country and thats what my people here have told me. and they work for ford. so i was just goin by what they had told me. whether this true remains to be seen. i don't see why not since it would be basically like europe's focus rs. the projested price range was supposed to be euvalent to the svt now and the srt4. theree is a model here and ford's world headquarters.

I had a Focus before I traded it in for a MSP. Mine was a mid year 2002 model. I did not have any problems with my car at all. For stock it handled good and even with after market suspension it handled way better. I personally still like the cars and know how they can be modded and what they can do. Reason I did not keep it because it wasn't me and I was not happy with it. It was not the car I wanted and couldn't afford (new credit) anyother at the time.

Yes, there has been some problems with recalls but everyone looks at the recalls as if its to prevent the car smuggling you while you sleep and then dumping your bodies in the lake. At least they are not hiding their recalls like other car companies have had to avoid bad press. I see recalls as someone saying hey "We found a problem with this on these cars and would like to fix it", but there is always a flip side to that argument.

No SVT Focus planned yet. The Focus will get some appearance changes for the 2005 model year while Europe will get the new C1 platform (ie, mazda3 and Volvo S40....). I would love to have the Focus RS over here but I can keep dreaming on that. Even better...a Cossie but I am grabbing at lost dreams there.

SVT PROGRAM UPDATE

Purpose

The following information is being provided to help dealers plan their 2004MY (model year) SVT sales strategies.

Background

The recent introduction of the new F-150 and the upcoming replacement of the Mustang have generated inquiries from customers and dealers regarding plans for SVT derivatives of these new models.

SVT Product Cycle Plan

2004MY will be the last year of production for the current generation of SVT products, including the Cobra, Lightning and SVT Focus. 2004MY production of all three products will end during the second quarter of the 2004 calendar year. There will be no 2005MY versions of the Cobra, Lightning or SVT Focus. The rollout of the next generation SVT Mustang Cobra and SVT F-150 Lightning will begin with the 2006MY. At this time there are no plans to introduce a replacement for the SVT Focus. Information on the 2006MY SVT products will be released at a later date.

SVT Dealer Program

Although there will be no SVT vehicles produced for the 2005MY, the SVT dealer program will be in place and operational to meet service and other needs of current SVT customers. Dealers will continue to receive SVT support, including the SVT InfoCenter (1-800-FORD-SVT), www.svt.ford.com and merchandising materials. The SVT Premium Service program and the SVT Owners Association will remain operational, and SVT will continue to maintain a presence at enthusiast events. Information on dealer enrollment for the 2006 MY SVT program will be communicated at a later date.

Standard Launch Timing

The SVT versions of the next generation products are on a standard development and launch timing planthey have not been delayed. The actual timing of SVT derivatives is driven by the timing of the vehicle programs on which they are based. The timing of the 2006MY SVT products is consistent with past practice.

Future SVT Programs

The level of unique engineering and content in SVT vehicles has been increasing virtually every year since SVT was created. Indeed, the change to new platforms and assembly facilities for the new F-150 and Mustang will make these programs the largest and most complex in SVT's history. However, these outstanding new platforms will provide the opportunity to enhance not only the performance, but also the quality, craftsmanship, and overall refinement of the SVT product lineup. This, along with the unique expertise SVT has developed in over ten years of operation, will ensure the next generation of SVT products will be the most exciting ever, and will continue to dominate the performance landscape for many years to come.

We encourage you to share this information with your sales and service teams and with your SVT customers. If you have any questions, please contact the SVT InfoCenter at 1-800-367-3788 (1-800-FORD-SVT). However, please remember that that we are unable to release any information on 2006MY SVT products at this time.
