Fmic From ebay?

im not saying dont go with an ebay kit im saying just read the description before you buy, you can find perfectly good ebay FMIC cores and piping for much much cheaper than any of the specific ms3 kits thats for damn sure, but make sure you dont buy show quality and not operational quality parts.

last show i went to, half the hoses in this tc's engine bay were clear plastic, dont think he was driving it around... its just the same idea, intercooler for show = cheap and looks great.

^^^ I think when they say "show quality", they're just talking up the look of the polished piping. It doesn't mean the kit or piping is not designed to work... I mean we're talking aluminum pipes and silicone couplers... it's not like a cylinder head or something.

it's cheap for a reason, about 2 years ago before my speed i had a 97 civic i purchased a full turbo kit from eBay had it installed and tune. around 2-3 month did an oil change and found that the manifold, pipping cracked and the turbo looked like it about to crack too. i had never push the car hard.
So caution when you buy thing of eBay for power.

i have asked about CXRacing's products and people said the quality of their kits is good

yeah, i would have to do the cutting and fitting myself. i contacted CXRacing and they said thats the DIY kit you want to use for the MS3.

there is a shop around the corner i can get to weld in a flange.

but i want to see how well the kits works and holds up, if all else fails, i can always keep the FMIC from the kit and buy the exhaust depot piping kit for $300 and will still be under $500 spent for a FMIC kit

im still waiting for the f2 fmic *sigh*..if they decide to release it i will buy it..if not i will go the ebay route

you can take a look at cobbs,e xhaust depot or any of the others FMIC kits.

i know that the cobb and the others use 2.25" cold side outlet and 2.5" hotside outlet for the intercooler core

but as said, Exhaust depot already makes the proper piping kit for the MS3, its only $300.

all you need to ask them is what size core to get, if you go to their site-they state what size intercooler core they used but will giveyou the range of sizes that can be used with their piping kit. buy a core from Godspeed or CXracing for less than $130/80 and you are set

im not wasting my money on a name brand for the same results.

the problem with the Exhaust depot piping it damages the hid system because of the tight fitment..this is if u have a gt

yeah, i have a sport. but aaronc7 has a GT and the ED piping kit, may want to send him a PM for questions about the GT and ED piping kit

that kit looks good. I suppose if you know what pipings and angles the ED kit comes in or what the MS3 needs, you might end up finding piping that is already at the angles you need. That ebay kit even had the list of parts and the angles they come in, you could compare them with the angles of the ED piping and see if they are about the same.

Any idea if the ebay pipes can also be bent to adjust them if they need to be bend to a different angle? Since the piping is cheap I'm not sur eif the finish would crack or flake off if you heated it to bend it

doubt they will do any bending

this is what CXRacing states for the kit

"We offer full range of piping sizes: 2", 2.25", 2.5", 2.75", & 3". Please check our other listings. if you want to simply substitute to other sizes, you can just buy this item, and specify the size on your payment note, same price and shipping.

Two Elbow Hoses can be Substituted to Any Two Elbow hoses, 45 Deg or 90 Deg. Please State Clearly What you want on Payment note. If no specification is stated, We will ship 1x 45 degree hose , and 1x 90 degree hose by Default. This kit only limits to two Elbow hoses, can't substitute Straight hoses."

yeah i read all that stuff. I mean if you know the right angles you need you can tell if the kit altready has what you need without having to get the pipes bent again by a shop to the right angles. I know there was a guy on the "mazdaspeed" forums who made his own fmic kit and listed the size/length and angles of the pipe bends needed for the custom fmic. If you have a list like that you can compare with the list on the CXR kit to see if it has what you need, meaning no additional pipe bending, you could just install the kit without needing any custom work short of getting the bov flange welded on.
