Fmic And Smic Info

just want to say that i have a Circuit Sport SMIC (bar and plate) and it kicks ass!
best single mod after downpipe.
highly recommend.

Isn't Ion's based off another company's? I can't seem to find it right now but it's the same design and from a more "reputable" company.

If you look back at Turbo Mags install of Ion's FMIC, you'll notice the "k" for Kinetic on the silicone couplings. They have been in connection since Jan '04.

The EXTREME-IMPORTS FMIC is a horrible kit. Found at www.extremeimports.net
The kit is not the same as pictured. It comes w/13 Piece of SH** aluminum pipes (not the five pictured). The welding on the ic is crap. I know middle schoolers that can weld better. Long story short--- When it comes to an FMIC or SMIC, you definitely get what you pay for. If you can't afford quality, keep saving.

I clicked on the link to protegegarage to look up the BEGI FMIC, and i can't find it anywhere on there site. Anyone know of anywhere else to find it?

I just received my Perrin FMIC yesterday. I paid 1199.99 for it, plus shipping. I was charged only 30 bucks for shipping though.....Not sure if it's because I bought their exhaust too, but that's what I experienced.

ARRRG...too many choices. I was set on a turbohoses SMIC causeI don't plan on boosting over 10psi. But for the sam $$$ I can have an FMIC, which look so sweet.

Is there any functional differences if boosting 10 and under? Any advantage to SMIC over FMIC?

That really needs to be answered with a breakdown of data to show the good and the bad for all the different types of intercoolers, pipes, BOV's & BPV's etc, along with what are you going to do with the engine.

But I think it's safe to say you should be pleased with all the different intercoolers offered by the vendors on here. Since you going to stay at 10psi then I would go with the cheapest one which has the least amount of work to be done.

Ti-99-that is one sweet IC. It HUGE...I like it. But apocman has touched on one of my parameters...no cutting. I have some good help for an install, but for some reasoon cutting into my baby doesn't sound like the best solution.

THe BEGI looks sweet, as does the Perrin. I think I'll probably be all good either way, but with so many choices its that much harder. Once I think I know what I want...here comes another product.

I live really close to turbohoses, so that seem like a big advantage for their SMIC. It just doesn't have the 'bling' factor. Of course with the way I drive that's likely a good thing.

That's a tube and fin (not bar and plate) intercooler. The bar and plate is better.

Don't take this the wrong way Jurgs, but that is a misleading blanket statement. Fin & Tube and Bar & Plate both have their advantages and disadvantages.

We currently have this debate going on in another thread. MAM is working on a sceintificly proven backed data rebuttle, to show why ytou would go with one versus the other.

you have to take in everything about the MSP and what he is going to do to it and when end results he will want. Then take said proven data do an analysis and then make a best suggestion.
