Flav's Mazda Protege5

and language is failing me. *doesn't

Thanks @kingofspades

This may be a bit of a silly question.. and I'm pretty sure I am right about this. But for brake lines, the mazdaspeed protg will have the same ones as the protg/5 correct? Reason why is because (and unfortunately) Corksport has sold out/discontinued the SS brake lines for the protg :( but a local supplier has SS brake lines from (it just slipped my mind which company makes the brake lines..) and in their book they only have 2003 mazdaspeed protg. I don't want to order these if they aren't an exact fit.

PM CR3 motorsports he can get you proper fitting SS lines for great prices, but yes all of the proteges have the same SS lines.

Got my clutch and brake lines all ordered from CR3 :) (Thanks Bikingpro5)

I'm pretty excited to see the difference because I know my lines are more than over due. When I hit the brakes I really gotta hit them. I've checked the rotor/pads and they all look really beefy still..also.. if I hit the brakes once.. then hit it again to get more pressure built up, they feel like brand new brakes should feel. I'm hoping these SS line's make that difference that I'm looking for.

Aside from that, I've mentioned it before but when I go hard on the car, The smell of burning oil is very prominent. My buddies room mate is a mechanic apprentice and last night at hockey I asked him what he thought could be making the smell so strong, He said the PCV valve is most likely sucking up some oil and burning it through the exhaust.. make's sense to me. I never asked him yesterday, but today on my drive to work I was thinking... Would an oil catch can system reduce the smell? Doesn't the oil catch can eliminate the PCV valve?

Upon some further reading on catch can's this may be the answer to my prayers. Does anyone have any recommendations as to which oil catch can I should buy?

I have all mishimoto cans and love the look of them. They have a pretty nice baffled unit if you can justify the $325 price tag (which I can't) but also have nice regular ones too. Once again you can order from CR3 Motorsports, he's got great pricing on Mishimoto parts IIRC.

Thank you for your input. I think I'm going to be making friends with CR3 for the next little bit.

i would try the millenia S PCV before adding and oil catch can. Unless the can has a catch valve and is properly baffled you can have more issues than what you do now plus the PCV is a 15$ mod compared to a multi $100 mod for catch cans.

My wallet enjoys that idea. Any specific year of Millenia? Whenever I ask a parts guy for a part from a certain car and don't give them the most mundane information. They look at me like I have a second head.

doesnt matter what year, as long as it's from an "S" model since those were supercharged

^ Thanks I actually just finished looking at that post. I don't exactly get how the Millenia S PCV valve is any better though? I saw some members were running the PCV valve with a jimmied air breather, would that even make much of a difference? If any.... either way I'll be picking up one of those after class tomorrow.

Another small problem I seem to be having is: When I am just cruising in 3rd or 5th (more noticeable in 5th) I tend to hear almost a rattling like sound as my foot touches the accelerator (when my foot is off I don't hear it regardless if I am in 5th or not) I haven't been under the car to poke around at the area yet. Not 100% sure what I'm going to look for since the problem only happens in 5th
Note: This sound isn't overly loud or annoying.. If I have my music on I can't hear it of course, but when I have the music low or off I can hear it.
