Flash Questions and FCD questions?

I know many people have talked about this but I am still a little confused. If i have a fmic and a cat back exhaust, I want to turn the boost up, what can i turn the boost up to safely on 93 or 94 octane? What about on race gas? Some people are saying that if you flash you can't get over 9lbs of boost. I noticed discreet has a flash and pushes his boost pretty high. I want to know what the highest anyone has boosted with a flashed ecu? Should i get it if i plan to increase the boost? Also if i get a FCD will that stop my speed limiter from cutting fuel?

People have boosted around 12psi with the flash...but no guarantees of course :)

Discreet boosts high, but he has supporting mods and runs high-octane fuel.

Yes, the FCD will get rid of the fuel cut.

what are discreets supporting mods? is that 12 psi on pump gas? and do you know if the run dailiy @ 12 psi or do they just bump it up for a race?

I'm curious of this as well. I have the FCD but I haven't tried a top gear run since it was stock.

Fuel Pressure Reducer.

I misunderstood your post about the FCD...I'm not sure if the FCD gets rid of the supposed speed limiter. But why do you have to go over 135MPH?

I don't have to go over 135 I just want to. I would like to see how fast the car can really go. Is a FPR worth it for the speed if I up the boost?

totally different system...speed limiter goes by mph.

higher boost + less fuel = possible boom
actually not with our car...less fuel means itll boost smoother and wont get bogged with the silly drench of fuel the pcm sends.....if you cut too much fuel then yes youll lean and go boom.
you dont have to worry about fuel delivery..the pcm dumps more than enough fuel to support the psi(ONLY AT WIDE OPEN THROTTLE).

Simply put, youre taking gas from an already lean mixture.

Bad idea.

The FPR is a great idea for unflashed cars who are at stock boost

right now my car is unflashed. i still have never gotten a definte awnser on whether the flash is good or not. at this point i have no clue whether to get it or not.

about 140...gear limited. No amount of power can get you past that. Only modified gear ratios :)
I thought it was 147 but who's counting :p

id get it man...as i said in another thread its a free temporary fix.

If you plan on running more boost without much fuel tuning, then i wouldnt get the flash.
My car feels insanely better at 10psi than at the stock level. Im not flashed, and can tell a huge difference..
Advancing timing is a detonation risk on turbo'd cars, and detonation kills motors. Bad times.

And do *NOT* use the FCD, especially for high boost applications unless you know what you're doing or are willing to take a higher risk of blowing your engine.

The cut is there for a reason.

Thats why Joe has the disclaimer in the package.. and in no way are you going to make it a high boost application without getting aruond the fuel cut.

Its there for a reason, yup, but if you want to have fun all year, ie 10psi, which is fairly safe.. then youre gonna have to have it.

dude theres enough fuel there even with the flash...

i agree on detonation being a killer...but for those days or nights you wanna run hard a little higher octane doesnt hurt..
again its a temp fix, eventually youll probably get a piggy-back or stand alone.

I dunno.. I don't wanna get into specifics right now due to my car being at Mazda right now for an ongoing problem but I've seen someone here in Austin running around 14psi without a FCD.
