Flash Question

I see that this has been talked to death, but I don't want to talk about it. I just want to know, yes or no, if those that have had it done would do it again. I've got an appointment at my dealer for Monday to flash the ECU on my car, but thought I'd take a poll here first. Thanks,

Jaime

If you are planning on boosting over 10 psi, then don't do it. up to 10 psi, I would definately have it done. Seeing as you have an 03.5, I'm wondering why you think yours hasn't been done. Most of the 03.5's were flashed before being sold.

I've traded ECUs with another forum member so I could go back to an unflashed ECU due to my boosting levels. If I weren't doing what I'm doing, I would still have the flashed one. It made a VERY nice difference.

Meh...I don't regret getting mine flashed but it didn't make enough difference to make it worth getting off of work to get it done. If you have some free time get it. If not, don't worry about it - you're not missing much IMO.

I boost 9 - 10, and with all the other mods (and being flashed), I'm pretty damn pleased...at least for now. Good idea T3ease - swapping ECU's...you're the first I've heard that's done that, for the sake of a build-up...nice. (2thumbs)

do it
10psi is fine with flash....no more though
some members here have been running 12 for almot a year now, half of the time on a flashed ECU.

better gas milage......and no, or very little, hesitation.

sounds like it; but do you have what it takes to go over 10?

Man girth, I dunno...I myself noticed a BIG difference. Felt like a completely different car. Weird...

Yeah I don't get it. (dunno) Trust me, I wanted the flash to be great probably as much or more than anybody on here but it just didn't turn out that way for me. The car hesitates less than it did, but it still does hesitate. I know it's flashed too because I had 2 dealerships do it - 1 of which is one that I have a fair amount of confidence in.

titanium didnt change at all after the flash, never hesitated......only better gas milage after the flash.

orange on the other hand was hesitating to a point that i was discelerating when i hit gas half way. i've driven 8-10 unflashed MSP's and my orange felt the worst out of all of them.

point is that it depends on the car. everything about the design of MSP varies greatly from car to car......

(lol) well, with so few made, I guess you hafta think the odds for production variances are at least a little bit higher than whatever "average" is...ah well, if it still hestitated a little, I'd think you'd at least be safe for more boost - 11 - 12ish....

THanks for the replies. I'm gonna at least get them to check out the ECU. I get some hesitation at 3/4 or less throttle, but its quite bad when the tank is low on gas. This makes me think that its more than just turbo lag. Seeing as how I ride a fast motorbike and spend most of my extra cash race preping it and riding at the track I won't be investing in more than 10 Psi, maybe up to 12, but I don't want to have to change injectors and all that stuff. Hardpipes and BOV's are sexy though.
