Fitting a 99 - 00 Front on an 02 P5

Just looking for some advice here from anyone that has attempted (succesfully or unsuccessfully) to fit a 99 - 00 Front Bumper on an Hatch (02 or 03 since they're the same).

I'm not a fan of any of the front bumpers available for the P5, with the exception of BC2, but their fitment is horrible. So, I recently picked up a Walker front bumper for 99 - 00 that somebody was selling on the Toronto board dirt cheap. It's brand new, never installed, but he sold his car and wanted to clear stuff out.

I only paid $50 for it, figuring I will cut, sand, and bondo it to hell to try to make it fit. Can't really go wrong for that price.

Anyway, I was just curious who has attempted this before, and if they can give me any advice on it, or jsut a heads up of specific areas that they know will need work. I know that the headlight housings are different, so that will be a big one, other than that....any thoughts?

Thanks in advance for any help.

BTW - Here's a pic of the same bumper on someone else's car:

Just to clarify...

I would assume the easiest way would be to cut a P5 bumper and a 99-00 bumper horizontally in half, and then mold the bottom half of the Walker bumper to the top half of the P5 bumper.

But I'm posting this incase anyone else has any other ideas (other than swapping headlight housings, hood, etc.)

Didn't know if maybe with some creativ filing / sanding / bondo work, it might be able to fit without cutting anything.

You have my problem but in reverse - I am trying to sort out the specific steps to put a P5 bumper on my 99.

In your case though you would definitely have to do some body work to build un the areas around the headlights and the connection points at the wheel wells.

I can't give you any specifics but you can try and look on the Club Protege Quebec site. A bunch of guys have done p5 bumpers on 99-00 maybe they can rationalize there way through the reverse.

Why not just do a full conversion to the euro style P5's ?

Either way - good luck !

Not worth it... u will need side fenders and hood also. Then, you probly wont like the 99-00 front. Not many options for it. with the price of hood and fenders, u cud do better with the DG? lip kit or maybe a complete kit.

Clearly, the two of you need to swap fenders, hoods and bumpers, get your front ends painted, and move on. Problem solved. No charge! :)

Yeah, why not just swap parts with each other? Should work out nicely.

Add the headlights, bumper reinforcement, grills and splash shields. I believe thats it.

sorry...not interested in doing a swap since that would mean I would be giving up:

JSP CF Hood with sides painted to match my car
DGM CF Grill
Headlight housing with Eyelids permanently afixed to them

I think if I do go through with this, I'll just get an extra MSP, MP3, or P5 bumper, cut it horizontally, and mold them together. But I'm still debating if it's worthwile.
