Fishdonotbounce's 2008.5 CWP Speed3 GT "Build" Thread

I can't believe the Craftsman impact wrench couldn't get the nuts off. That's 550lbs of torque. Speaking of which, now I know what to buy with my $50 Sears gift card. A new impact with more powa and doesn't have a sticky trigger!

I've never broken a breaker bar, but then again, I don't really use them.

you sure you didnt have the gun on tighten and torque the s*** out of the bolts?? haha :P

ill be honest, im not wild about the wheels... i dont hate em but i dont really like em either, something just seems a tiny bit off IMO but its not my car so it doesnt really matter if i like em or not haha

Breaking breaker bars is easy to do. ******* hurts like hell when you do it tho. I'm on my 2nd 23" bar. Broke my first one on an axle nut for the Civic.

Yea I got lucky with mine. Just a little tiny cut. Was quite an impact though.

those wheels look incredible man

Thank AJ, I really love them.

Update first page with sexy new wheels pic. ;)

I sure will as soon as I take a better shot of it.

I'm on my 2nd one as well. Good time to have a Craftsman and be able to trade it in for a good one (or any other brand that lets you do that).

Agreed! (2thumbs)

I'm probably going to buy a harbor freight one. Looks pretty nice and at 10 bucks, it's a great deal.

That's cool. Different strokes for different folks. I absolutely love them.

Took Shamu for a little ride today and did a couple pulls. God I love this car. Chippy, the tires rubbed VERY slightly and only once on a big dip while accelerating. What are the specs on your wheels that you'll be putting the Contis on?

18x8 +48 Hmmmmm... I might be able to put them on before the fender rolling event. If not, I will hold out and just bring them with me that day! Summer cannot get here soon enough! Thanks for the update, Ivan!

+1 on the summer can't get here soon enough.

I picked up a CP-e TIP tonight because it was too good of a deal to pass up. That makes one of 5 things I want to buy for the speed in the next few months. TIP, fuel pump, down pipe, SS brake lines, Brake pads for track.

may i reccomend the HJC CL-16. dot and snell 2010. reasonably priced, good fit, and very light. me and corey both have them and i couldnt be happier with it. ive used it when riding motorcycles, and i know corey uses his for his bike. and they feel great. no restriction of turning and no neck strain

NASA usually doesn't allow M rated helmets to be used. I'm going to play it safe and get an SA2010 rated helmet from summit for $170.

god damn it. that ****** blows. youd think that a motorcycle helmet would take more of an impact than a car helmet....

well that ***** me over. i am not buying a second helmet to go on the track. **** that. im pissed now.

Yeah, but considering all the times people say they're going to the track, and how many times they actually follow thru with it, I don't think that will affect you much.

As Wes stated, it has nohting to do with the impact rating, it has to do with fire safety. NASA does have rentals and we don't mind lending out our SA Rating helmets. I am purchasing a Sparco helmet for Lauri to replace her's. If we got enough people I can approach Sparco or OMP to see about a group buy for rhose who are serious. Better to be safe than sorry......After reading that article in GRM about Charles Espenlaub and that bad fore he was involved in a couple of years back, convinced me...the helmet and the rest of the safety equipment saved his ass....
