First Post / First Mazda / (VW guy, (also)- I find "forums" helpful, when learning...
Just introducing myself .... and hope to not only learn some good info about the new CX-5,.... but will attempt to be helpful w/ junk/stuff, that I post. ( I've been dealing w/ VWs' for quite a few years .... love 'em . )
So..... If I can post a pic, ... it will be attached. (what I bought, last week ) The only thing I've done to the Mazda (so far) is get some window tint installed.
I've read over the Audio part of the CX-5 forum, and, it seems, that the factory (base) head unit, does not have a (convenient ) connection available, to send a signal to an amplified subwoofer. ( I have a small Kenwood sub that would fit under the passenger seat, that I can take out of the VW Rabbit ) It appears that the connections on the back of the factory base model stereo, are meant for a factory harness (only) and no RCA "line out" feeds. ( would anyone like to confirm this ? )
The other area that I'm trying to figure out, is: It "looks like" that a double din radio housing, and associated dash bezel, are a 'standard size", and will not be too hard to find something to hold an aftermarket head unit. I'm considering installing a nice single din head unit, and a radio housing that would have a built in shelf, under the radio. (like I put in my 2007 VW Rabbit )
... it Appears, that the radio bezel will cover up a standard housing..... ..... crutchfield.com doesn't have anything "made" for the CX-5, aftermarket radio housing.... yet. (that I can find )
The only thing that I've noticed so far:
* the floor mats are harder to get out, that you would think they would be....
* The rear gate, needs a firm closing effort. (or your dash light will show that it is "open" )
* I would like to figure out, how to re-set the "Average MPG" readout, on the dash computer ( so that when I fill up, I can see the average of "that tank" of gas ) .... the answer is probably in the owners manual, .... but I haven't looked, closely..... yet
enough for now.... thanks in advance for any info, or comments on the above.
