Hey guys, I was reading one of the newer threads and it mentioned the "First Ding/Scratch Fear" and I thought it would be kinda neat if anyone had any stories of their first "break-in" so to speak.

My first ding was in a Whole Foods parking lot (which are really not designed very well), where an SUV rammed into the back left corner of my 3. And this was just during my 4th week of owning the car! I was so pissed, and only one person saw it happen, but didn't get the license plate number of the SUV. The dent was big enough to fit my two fists in it, but I managed (after a LOT of effort) to push the dent back out (god bless flexible paint btw) , but have never had it taken to an auto body place to fully fix it. Then within a couple months I saw a bunch of other 3's with the same dent on their rear left bumper, so I didn't feel as bad.

I only had my car for 4 days when a severe thunderstorm with funnel clouds rolled into the area.
Just as I was going to move my car into the garage, a chunk of hail about the size of a ping-pong ball dropped onto the hood and left a nice little dent.
Luckily there was only one.
I hate mother nature...

Third day I owned the car a semi truck merged without seeing me and forced me into a curb. Messed up my rims pretty bad. My first crash was about a month ago. Got rear-ended at a red light.

oh man! how bad was the damage from the rear-end?? And what were you rear-ended by?(notcool)

first accident i was in, thank god i was in my dad's suburban, caused a $17 piece of black plastic to be scratched on his back bumper (never fixed, you can only see it in the right light), and $42k of damage to a bmw z4. I love big cars. (ughdance)
(this happened on the northbound exit 19 of i-71. I was stopped on the freeway , and she was going about 55/60 mph.)

The first scratch in my protege happened back when it was only 3 weeks old (summer of 91, heh). I don't remember much because I was only 4 at the time.

(edit: sorry, maybe I should pay more attentipn to which forum I'm posting in; i don't have a 3 (yet) and the truck is 7 years old. Ill leave now)

dont know if it was the first one but definately the most memorable. My friend was following me to the body shop where he was picking up his car (he got rear ended) and he was in a 1990 BMW of some sort. Anyways he rear ended me at a stop sign for some train tracks cuz he didnt think i was gonna stop all the way. It didnt do any major damage, although he did hit me pretty hard. It put like 2 nice sized scrathes on my rear bumper and the edges that meet up with my rear quarter panels stick out a tiny bit. I hit him pretty hard once he got outta the car and came to look at mine....

ding/scratch

well, I dont have ding scratch yet,I'm sure Im gonna flip when it happens..
Almost got T-boned today, talk about a heart stopper. Thank god for me not paying attention to my light turning green. just that 1 second of not watching and a mini-van comes roaring thru the red light.

Bumper had to be replaced, cost him about $700. He was driving some POS 1970 something van which couldn't have been worth more than the money I had in my pockets.
