I picked the car up today. They had put another 9 km on it while testing so it had 26km when I got it. Man its a nice looking car. All you guys waiting had better get winter tires lined up .... the Bridgestones maybe great in the summer, but not now. Driving up to the tire place, 12km up Yonge St., it was almost impossible to start from a light without tire spin .... its not just any wet patches, its too damn cold for them. The tire guy said under about 7 or 8 degrees celsius they're no good and I'm inclined to believe him.
The steering of the car has to be tried to be believed, unless you already have an mp3. It's closer to a go-kart than my old Del Sol, and it was a great handling car. It's so direct and precise. The seats are super comfortable, but you really sit up high, again particularly compared to what I was used to. The shift is very low, but it becomes comfortable very quickly.
Needless to say you get lots of double-takes, but at most lights I had my head down trying to work out the stereo. Its capable of great sound, but you have to take the time to set it up.
Again I was lucky to have got the car at Avante. One of the mechanics has the same deck in his car so he had done a lot of the set up for me already ... although he and I apparently don't listen to the same radio stations.... it made it a lot easier .... the graphics are wild. The winters are on now, and the summers are stored, but it handles better with these because of the temperatures. I think I'll be spending a lot of time looking for highway exit and entry ramps .... catching one of those just right is the best. I'm up to around 90km now. Not bad for a first effort. Now I've got to go get the groceries ... that should bring me back down to earth.
