well i did it and the car feels smother and faster with no turbo lag so i highly recomend you to do the flash!!! and about the mpg i think i didn't suffer as a result !!!
I can only say the MPG is better since I had the flash. It is certainly not worse and the software change makes all the difference in the world regarding driveability. Much better car with the update than without.
