Finally!

thats not worth it in the slightest bit. buy a muffler and have a shop weld you the piping for probably less than 200 total and get the same gains.

Actually, just welding on a new muffler won't give you the full advantages of a cat back exaust. The reason is that the cat back supplies a larger pipe, and therefor better exaust flow between the cat and the muffler.

Owned, thats exactly what he said.

The magnaflow is not worth it at all. I had a magnaflow on my protege 5, should of just done a custom one.

i got custom with magnaflow tip and magnaflow muffler and i love it :)

That'll probably be the path I take now. A guy at a shop here in town told me he could bend the pipe, weld on a muffler and a tip for me all for under $400. He said the only advantage to going w/the cat-back straight from Magnaflow would be the mandrel bent piping. I found on ptuning.com that the system's available for about $100 under MSRP plus Free Shipping...I can't decide

Got mine done for $220

wow where are you guys? i had larger pipe welded onto my sunfire all the way back and welded on the exhaust for 140 at my local shop. might want to check around your areas more.

magnaflow is $430 shipped at ptuning.com with our discount.

yeah man, I just got notified this week that it's now available. Think I'll be putting in my order any day now! (2thumbs)

I ordered the system late last week from ptuning.com, got it yesterday, in perfect condition & I'm hoping to get it installed sometime later this afternoon. I'll post some pics & hopefully some sound clips ASAP.

Finally! Got the cat-back installed Thurs morning. I've had it for under a week now and I absolutely love it! It sounds incredible! Hard to believe it's still a 4 cylinder under the hood. I can't think about a single drawback to the system at all. As far as I'm concerned, it was worth every penny too. I can notice a slight power increase so far, so I'm anxious to see what it'll feel like after putting a CAI system on.

Actually you wont get the same gains with crush bent piping, and I seriously doubt you could get mandrel bent tubing, muffler, resonator and have it welded up and look like it belongs there for $200
If you want gains get a good name brand exhaust and stay away for these exhaust shops, unless you just what the looks and sound.

Any chances on having a dyno done anytime soon?

I need some strong opinions and the facts to back them up....question is
Magnaflow, Borla, or custom route and why?

tell you the truth. Dynos mean nothing unless all systems are tested on the same car with a stock run. And All catbacks will produce around 5 - 7 whp, so it depends on the sound you are after. If you go the custom route, crush bend will produce a little less the mandrel + it will be louder due to the uneven radius of the pipe.

cheers.
