2012 VW GLI/2015 CX-5 GT AWD Soul + Tech
Just picked her up today. Saw it come off the truck last weekend, put down a deposit and waited for the extra Memorial Day savings. Its a 2015 GT AWD with Tech Package, roof rack and crossbars, and the dealer included the cargo cover. All in all, its a pretty sweet car/truck/SUV/CUV... whatever you want to call it. I won't see much seat time in it since it's for my wife, but I may have to steal it or swap cars from time to time. Certainly a nice upgrade from her Focus.

Now take the crossbars off if you're not going to use them. Easy to do.

So you keep/reuse your plates from car-to-car in VA?

Congrats and welcome! Beautiful ride. It's much cheaper to transfer plates in SC ($10) than to pay for new plates and taxes ($350-500 depending on vehicle).

Sweet! I have to wait another 18 hours before I pick up my Blue Reflex GT AWD w/Tech & Remote. That will be my 3rd new car in the last 35 years with the most recent a '91 Mazda B2600i Cab Plus SE5 I bought new and paid cash for.

Already studying the manuals I downloaded. That will be a big jump in technology!

I see yours has the new style mirrors with the LED indicator on the front surface. Wonder if mine will also have it? My VIN sequence # is 471143. Was just delivered to the dealership Wednesday.

Nice one! Can I ask what you paid for it before TTL? I'm looking at the GT FWD and just debating if some of the options are worth it for me. Thanks!

Soul Red looks amazing. It would be my top choice had it been available in 2013.

This one is 469956, built 04/14 so yours should have them.

Indeed it does. Sticker also shows a build date of 04/14. Took it out for a nighttime spin last night and put the flashers on after I pulled it back into the garage. Driver can't see the LEDs flashing from the driving position but there is a fresnel lens which faces to the rear and makes your lane change intent VERY obvious to the person in either of your blind spots.

nice. i really like the red in-person. roof rails are a must have for me. i think the car looks naked without them.

There is a sticky thread here which details what the going prices are. I got 8.5% below MSRP.

Howdy,

Congratulations, That's a Beautiful CX5. I'm kind of a Lurker, waiting till the end of
the year and hopefully will be purchasing one myself.

Please keep us updated on how you like yours.

Take Care,

Craig

Congratulations - got the wait till end of August/September for mine - but seeing your pictures really glad I went for Soul Red :)

How's your wife and you finding the CX 5 now your getting used to it?

Its great! I read through the manual over the weekend. I really like the section that shows you step-by-step how to properly load 4 sets of golf clubs. It rides great, handles really well for something as tall/heavy as it is, and really doesn't take up any more room in the garage than her old Focus (maybe a bit wider). What I love are the HIDs! Made the Tech package completely worth the price. I turned off the AFS, and was happy it stays off until you want it back on (not back on each time you turn the car off).

I still need to look into the Bose system a bit more. I think the sound is pretty good, needs tweaked a bit, but the Sirius sound is far better than my VW or any other satelite radio we've had to date. The sound is usually really hollow or like the mid-levels are cranked up. This is very clear on most of the stations we've messed with.

We ordered a screen protector from Clarivue (custom size 74mm by 130mm) for the touchscreen. I like that theirs don't use adhesive to hold them in place and can be removed. A pack of two was $25, and should be here next week.

She's debating on tinting the front two windows. VA lets you do 50% on the front two (legally), darker if you want to roll the dice. Even 50% would make a nice transition.

Turn off the Centerpoint sound option.

That will get rid of the hollow sound and make it sound pretty decent.
