Finally got tthe stuff, now install time.

I am starting to hate my Bose system. Its not very loud, which my car seems to keep getting louder(Mods...LOL). I've been watching people do systems and want to know if they think this is possible, I realize the speakers are possible, its the wiring I'm trying to avoid.

This is whats waiting for an install.

1. Keep Head Unit Stock.
2. 4 X JBL 6x8 GTO 2-way 6x8's(2-Ohm) (I know it will be very "Bright")
3. 2 x INFINITY REFERENCE 1021T TWEETERS (Even "Brighter I know) but I like the Front Stage sound of the stock, I can turn the treble down either on AMP or HU.
4. 4 6x8 BoomMat Baffles for behind speakers, gonna try and seal it as much as possible, should make less chance of door vibes and they really protect the speakers from the Florida Rains.
5. As big a Square piece of Dynamat as I can get behind speaker on door just to eliminate a slight amount of ting.


I'm gonna do all the above and see how it sounds, I doubt I'll be happy as I think its the Bose Amp that sucks more then the speakers even.



Now for the Part I'm sure will work its just if it will work well, Wiring those doors looks like a PITA and I'm trying to stay simple.

I already bought the amp, its a Nice Old School Kicker (2-Ohm Stable) 75x4(Actual), I thinks its rated at like 25x4) It has Line-Level Inputs so need for PAC unit. If I need a PAC unit ever I'd prob go with one of the DSP boxes from MTX, like the RE-Q or JL Cleansweep.

(All of this under driver seat where stock one is, yes my new one will fit)

Could I just do this?
1. Remove Bose Amp and use the Power and Ground that are there for the Bose and use them for my amp?

2. Connect the Speaker inputs from the Bose to the New Amp with Speaker level inputs? The speakers and amp in the Bose system were 2 ohm, I'd prob go 4 ohm Amp and Speakers, keep heat down and should also allow me to run the stock power, ground and speaker wires without to much loss from not running all new wires.

3. I will be removing the Stock Sub-woofer, might as well never really heard it anyway...lol

4. Is all this crazy and I should just run a 4-8 gauge power wire thru firewall and rewire all the speakers. I've just seen how much of a pain in the ass it is too run new speaker wire and power wires in this car, and its a pain in most cars but this one especially.

Any suggestions be appreciated, Not looking for crazy Bass or Show SQ but I like it pretty clean and loud!!!!! oh yeah and lightweight!!!!lol

Forget them. They wont give your speakers enough room to breath and you will loose almost all low end from them. Rain isn't a problem. Although doors DO get wet, you really dont have anything to worry about.

Why not just do the whole door while you're at it? You'll love the results...

No, you'll need to run new wires. The stock wiring is 12 gauge at best.

I'm running the cleansweep.. works great. The Rockford 3sixty.1 and .2 models are a better choice though, because they give you additional functionality.



Also, speaker level inputs into your amp is fine. You "should" rewire all the speakers, but you should be ok using the existing wires. It can be a pain in the ass to get wires through the door molex...

Ok.. people hate the infinity tweeters on their own because they are too bright.. and you're planning on having a 6x8 in the door w/ tweeter, and then another one up top? BAD idea. Really bad. Like.. you will hate yourself for doing this. Just get a 6x8, or 5-1/4" component set (I used the alpine Type-R's in my car at first, loved them) and be done with it. The alpine tweeter can even be fit in behind the stock sail panel for a 100% stock look. Also 6.5's can fit easily with a TINY bit of cutting, and you'll need to build a baffle.. 2 hours of work at most.
